Title: Rear Stand - 2011 Ducati Monster 696 Post by: tlh235 on December 04, 2011, 12:39:38 PM I recently got a pit bull rear stand for my 696. I can't seem to get it to do the job. is there anyone out there that has a picture of thier bike on a rear stand.
this is the one i got, it just doesn't seem to want to fit under the swing arms on both sides evenly. any advice. if you are using the other mounts in the 2nd pick, you have to do the same thing, but you dont need to hook up to spools, but sitll need to adjust it so you are on the swingarm evenly. Title: Re: Rear Stand - 2011 Ducati Monster 696 Post by: thought on December 04, 2011, 12:53:09 PM did you put spools on your swingarm yet? and this one looks like you need to adjust it to fit the clearance on your bike.
what do you mean by it doesnt seem to want to fit? do the spools not line up to the stand or is one side lower/higher than the other? Title: Re: Rear Stand - 2011 Ducati Monster 696 Post by: tlh235 on December 04, 2011, 07:51:55 PM i didn't put spools on it (can u do that...seems like it would be eaiser if you can)...actually trying to use the stand with the second set of attachments since my bike doesn't have spools. it seems like i get one side perfect but of course you can't see on the other side real well to make sure that side is also lined up. anyway, as long is this stand with the second set of attachments is correct, i'll have to try again....kinda got frustrated and wanted to make sure the stand i got is one that i should have. if you say it should work, then i will just have to work it some more. gonna get a friend to hold the bike so that i can line everything up better....then i should be able to do it myself...thanks for the input
Title: Re: Rear Stand - 2011 Ducati Monster 696 Post by: thought on December 04, 2011, 09:36:40 PM get one side measured up perfect. then measure it and replicate it on the other side when it's off the bike. you dont need to fit it on the bike, you just need to make sure both are even.
and get spools, they're a lot more stable than using the swingarm lift type. much less chance of things moving around... any spools should work, all DSS bikes i know can fit them. but i could be wrong, i doubt it, but ducati always sometimes do weird choices. Title: Re: Rear Stand - 2011 Ducati Monster 696 Post by: Link on December 05, 2011, 04:57:37 PM I use a pi bull stand on the 696 with out spools and it works great, very stable. You just need to get rubber parts lined up.

Title: Re: Rear Stand - 2011 Ducati Monster 696 Post by: Grrrly on December 06, 2011, 02:33:09 PM holy crap...that's not were i was trying to put it on my bike... [bang] please realize, that the rear stand above is NOT the same as yours. Your (newer style) stand has the handle that points towards the front. But the placement where is holds the swingarm is the same. Here is the video from PitBull which shows how to use your rear stand with spools though, but it gives you an idea of how to do it regardless. Again, I hope this helps. Title: Re: Rear Stand - 2011 Ducati Monster 696 Post by: tlh235 on December 07, 2011, 05:28:22 AM honestly, i put it on that but as far down as i could...i wasn't sure it was correct to put it on the very level lower portion...when i ordered the stand i ordered the wrong one(ordered spools)...then had to order the attachments. So truthfully, i wasn't even sure what i had was correct, so being a newbie the last thing i wanted to do is use the stand and wake up the next morning and my bike be on it's side in my garage. that's why i came here, i'm totally new to the bike thing and even some common sense stuff still scares me a little, so i make sure i ask you guys everything.
I am going to attempt to change the oil since i got my bike kinda late in the season, and have only put like 400 miles on it and folks told me before i put it up for the winter to at least change the oil since i haven't got to my first service. I did the fuel stabilizer this weekend and got it connected to a battery tender jr, and just got a cover in yesterday. The bike will be garage kept. One other question, since i'll probably not do any riding in the very cold weather, is it good to maybe just go down and start it once or twice a week and let it run for 5-10 minutes? I've not put fuel stabilezer or oil change during long lulls but i don't run e10 either. for the oil personnally just do it at the next service. You never know u might get a wierd warm blast in march Title: Re: Rear Stand - 2011 Ducati Monster 696 Post by: He Man on December 07, 2011, 06:32:02 PM maybe you can tell us whats happening when you try to use it instead.
