Title: Do I have to lower the gauge if I install an Aztec headlight
Post by: coffeegrinds on December 07, 2011, 07:47:44 PM
I was thinking about installing an Aztec8 7" single headlight in place of my stock headlight on my 1100.  Does anybody know if I'll have to lower the speedometer gauge or find some way to keep it in place?  The gauge looks like it fits into the stock headlight somehow.

Yes you will need to find another way to mount your gauges.  i used diamondplate aluminum and mounted it to the top triple where the light mount holes are.

Thanks.  I appreciate the help.  So much for a "simple" modification...

actually pretty simple as long as you dont want to use the bikini fairing. THEN it gets not so simple.

for headlight brackets you'll want to check out the LSL brackets that mount on the fork. (but you'll have to take the top triple off to put them on.

No bikini fairing.  Didn't like the look of it.

Thanks for the tip on the LSL bracket.  I was definitely looking for a replacement to the ones that came with the Aztec8 headlight kit because I've heard they're kind of flimsy.

I don't mind taking off the triple clamp as I was thinking about getting clip-ons... with possibly a new top triple clamp...  In for a penny, in for a pound.
