Title: RIP ZachDDill
Post by: TrevOwnz on December 10, 2011, 03:37:19 PM
Not sure if this is my place to say this or not but Zach is no longer with us. I was a buddy of his and we both had the same bike up until I sold mine. We recently talked this week about you guys and that is what caused me to want to write this. He was telling me how through his bad luck his helmet was stolen and you guys were all willing to help him out. I was the person who recommended him to this site because I know how down to earth and amazing you guys are. He appreciated the offers and I'm glad to know you guys took care of him when I sent him this way. You guys helped me out before with my tank and Ducati has the greatest community I have ever seen. Thanks for being yourselves guys (and gales).

"Zach Dill True, I was on DMF and I mentioned how somebody stole my helmet and three different people offered to send me a Helmet some boots and a Jacket hah.

Trevor Deal They are the nicest group of people. I bought a tank from a guy for 200 dollars and he could have sold it for 400 or 500 on ebay.

Zach Dill Yeah, they are great."

I know it's not in my place to talk about how or why it happen and if the family decides to disclose that I might inform you guys but let's just say he is no longer with us and remember him for what he was. One great guy.

Yes unfortunately that is the same Zach and he did take his own life. I wouldn't say we were best of friends but we were buddies and he was nothing but nice and usually was looking to the future with things, such as mods to the bike or whatever. I talked to him couple days before he died and there was no negative thoughts or anything. We were talking about games and he was getting back into a game and talking about things he was doing in the game. I didn't want to say he took his own life, kinda hard to say that sort of thing but my only thought is something dramatic happen the day of and or he came to the realization to something hard. The hardest part of the whole thing is he wasn't homeless or in prison. He was a normal guy, we would have all stuck our hand out but it isn't that simple to them. Kills me inside.

I actually had some round bar end mirrors I was going to try and fix up and give him. I have a small box of random stuff I needed to give him but never had the time off to.

because the nicest, most down to earth ones are usually the ones hiding the most pain. they know what it's like to hurt so they are everybody's friend & take on everyone elses burdens in addition to their own. they dont reach out because they dont want to be a bother or if they do reach out it's usually in a very subtle way so as to not cause anyone to worry about them, because again, they dont want to be a bother....its a sad, vicious cycle.

i hope zach finds his peace...and i hope his friends & family do too.

I'm sorry to hear this about Zach. I posted on his thread where everyone was giving him advice on career paths. It was good to see a youth of today interested in the future that was more than just a few days.

because the nicest, most down to earth ones are usually the ones hiding the most pain. they know what it's like to hurt so they are everybody's friend & take on everyone elses burdens in addition to their own. they dont reach out because they dont want to be a bother or if they do reach out it's usually in a very subtle way so as to not cause anyone to worry about them, because again, they dont want to be a bother....its a sad, vicious cycle.
I can remember being like this 20 years ago, in my late teens and early 20's. I had even bought a gun when I was 21 with the intention that only one bullet would ever be fired through it. One day, like the flip of a switch, I wound up deciding to live my life for me, whether I upset others or not, and I wound up culling the herd of those "friends" who were emotionally/physically draining. I finally drew the line with those people who would never help themselves, but always ran to me for whatever it was they needed at the time. I never had anyone to go to when I was down or depressed because, if none of my "friends" could deal with their own problems, how could I expect to have them help me by further weighing them down further?

I traded the gun, unfired, for a used Husqvarna 430 dirtbike. Other than what it represented, I would like to have that gun back. It would be worth a decent penny these days.

Sorry I haven't been on for a few days to reply to message. This message was made by a friend of me and Zach, she was a fellow Duc rider and the mother of a friend of his. She might even be on this forum. Her name is Janet.

"My youngest daughter, Holly, has had yet another loss in her childhood friend Zach. Zach was just 18 ( maybe 19 already, forgive me) and with so much ahead, but passed away last week, on Tim's birthday in fact, another blow for us and anniversaries of other losses. Zach lived, breathed and slept Ducati and loved his Monster (of course!) His dad (Danny) had just ordered a Ducati Mechanica T-shirt for Christmas and, sadly, shortly after his dad received the phone call about Zach's passing, PureDucati.com called to tell him the size was out of stock and so it would be coming from Italy, but in time for Christmas. When Danny told them what had happened, he almost cancelled the order, but then it occurred to him that it would be THE clothing Zach would want to leave this earth in. PureDucati then not only shipped the shirt overnight, but at no charge. THAT's Ducati for you. And so, also fitting, I asked Danny if he would mind a few Ducs arriving for the viewing, start of service and memorial and he was so touched by this--said it would be one of THE greatest tributes for his son. And soooo....I am writing to you all to ask if you may be able to join me in a procession of sports bikes, led & headed of course by as many Ducatis as we can gather. General details follow and I will begin organizing our meet spot and time. Please reply if you CAN assist with this. {Please forward to any Ducatista's I may be forgetting, tho I will send a second identical note to some more others shortly. THANK YOU ALL, love janet.
Zach's funeral will be held on Thursday, December 15th at Journey Christian Church, 1965 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka. The viewing will be from 5-7pm and the service will start at 7pm."

The question I got in my message was if the forum could do something for Zach. I know the family would be touched and I'm going to be sending this whole thread to them soon so they can see your comments and how great of a community you are.

If there is something you would like to do, send me a message or if you guys on are on facebook write to him, the family will be checking his account (I know they have already to add friends that wanted to say something to him)

I made this for anyone that wanted to make it a sticker or something. http://s444.photobucket.com/albums/qq161/TrevOwnz89/?action=view&current=DucatiDill-1.png (http://s444.photobucket.com/albums/qq161/TrevOwnz89/?action=view&current=DucatiDill-1.png)

Do you know if there is a charity that the family supports?  With all of us so spread out, donating to a cause in Zach's memory would be a viable option, and meaningful.

And if you wouldn’t mind, please pass along to Zach’s family that his limited involvement in our virtual but close-knit community was a gift - especially his “jumping over my Ducati” thread that we took, manipulated and ran with.  The timing of his thread could not have been better since we had recently lost another DMF member.  Zach’s youth and energy that he conveyed through his posts was a breath of sunshine.  I suspect that when anyone needs a good belly laugh, the thread to go read will be Zach’s.

We will not forget him.

Shit.  He seemed like a heck of a good kid.

He brought a great deal of levity to this board in his brief time here.  In memorium:

Maybe as a tribute/memorial to zack, we could institute a basketball emoticon into the DMF system? I really thought the "Dolph" emoticon renaming was a great thing.

I totally agree with this, both on the Dolph emoticon tribute and some kind of basketball emoticon for Zach

I am so sorry I am so late to this thread. I am touched by the 7 pages of thoughts, well wishes to his family and friends and the prayers. Breaks my heart. I sincerely hope he has found his peace. Way too soon for this to happen but these things happen regardless of age. Sad that it leaves all those left behind wondering for the rest of their lives why this happened. Open up people and reach out. Killing yourself is not the answer, regardless how it seems to be the answer. Life is so precious. Come close to losing it and you will see the difference in full sunlight. This is not a dress rehearsal. [thumbsup] RIP Zach. God bless.

I had just saw the "Jumping over my Ducati" thread, and I was wondering why I hadn't seen him posting.

Hadn't been around long, but he seemed like a good kid...so sad.

Rest in Peace, man  :'(

Guys my name is Danny Dill, I am the incredibly proud yet hurting father of Zach. I wanted to know how much your support means to me and to Zach. He really loved that bike and I plan to keep her and restore her to her original glory, I ride a VTX1800 and it is really funny to see a fat man on that monster, especially one who is crying while riding.
One post said he is in heavan on a monster, I am sure of that and my mom (his gmom) is one back saying go faster, he was never one to dissapoint his grandmother

I cant answer why but Zach has always been my low maintanance kid, always a pleasure to be around. He had dragons that he couldnt slay and I could never find.

Youre help was immeasurable to him.

Thank you very much

Zach contacted me about some carbon fiber heel guards.  Mr. Dill, provide me with me an address and I'll get them in the mail.

I'm a big strong guy - come here Mr. Dill and get your online hug  :)

I'm making a thread in Accessories & Mods as a starting point.
Please let me know if it needs changing - content, heading, deleting - anything.

Maybe Drunken Monkey will add it to the stickied "List of major build threads"?

RIP Zach, you'll be remembered :'(

Mr Dill,

Zach seemed like a great person based on his contributions here.  That doesn't always happen when young guys post to our "club", they seem to usually alienate themselves withing a week or two.  Zach seemed to fit right in and interact with DMF members of all ages.

BTW..braved the snow here in Phoenix yesterday (yes, that is snow in the background) and rode to work in Zach's honor.

I'm hoping there was a good turnout at his service?! Please let us know.
