Title: Dry Clutch Show-Off Post by: memetic on December 27, 2011, 04:34:04 PM Finally got a bunch of priority issues sorted and am now focusing on some aesthetic/functional mods. Next up is a new clutch kit and cover. I am certain I am in love with the nasty chatter. I've actually met chicks at bars after riding up with all that racket. My current setup is just the removal of the stock gasket and the installation of rubber backed washers. It puts the stock cover out about 3/8". The increase in racket is tremendous.
Anyway, I started looking around and there are so many options -- too many options. I've even seen some really sweet mods made by cutting up stock covers. I really like the Area 51 cover, but they don't make it anymore I guess. Maybe I can try to make something similar with my stock cover. I'd like to see any unique or nice setups anyone's got. Everybody like pictures... Thanks! Title: Re: Dry Clutch Show-Off Post by: stopintime on December 27, 2011, 04:52:56 PM If you google 'ducati clutch cover' you'll find 1,360,000 pictures [beer]

I was hoping to see what people here have and to have a discussion about it. Like why they went with the option they did and how they like it. Maybe even vs something they had before. I don't know, it's a forum.... to discuss stuff... edit: and it's 1,390,000 pictures... Which was kind of my point -- it is way too much. Thanks. Lot of missing photos though... Title: Re: Dry Clutch Show-Off Post by: stopintime on December 27, 2011, 05:14:27 PM I know. I guess those are the really sexy ones 8) I have a wet clutch, so I decided to not like dry [bang] , so feel free to ignore my opinion on the matter :-X Title: Re: Dry Clutch Show-Off Post by: Twizted on December 27, 2011, 05:15:58 PM Yes I know disappointing but there is still a lot of options in there for you to look at. The best clutch cover I ever saw was a custom job one of the members here did with an oem cover and a dremel - (http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff62/icecreamhands/6038053244_a09f7babeb.jpg)
Title: Re: Dry Clutch Show-Off Post by: memetic on December 27, 2011, 05:21:26 PM Holy shite! Wow! Not my style these days (back in the day I would have dug it more), but that is pretty damn unique and cool. I like how the spring in the left eye socket looks like an eye. Sweet.
The other thread is almost 4 years old too. It is an awesome thread for sure and thank you (I'm still flipping through it). There are lots of new ideas out there too I'm sure. Thanks! Title: Re: Dry Clutch Show-Off Post by: sofadriver on December 27, 2011, 05:22:35 PM I already have 3 laying around but if i didn't I would have picked up one of these.......

Not a bad price, either. I know they make them for the wet clutches but I am not sure if it is the same bolt pattern as a dry clutch. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DUCATI-RED-CNC-ENGINE-CLUTCH-COVER-Monster-696-M696-796-/230507328070?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35ab4eb246 (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DUCATI-RED-CNC-ENGINE-CLUTCH-COVER-Monster-696-M696-796-/230507328070?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35ab4eb246) Title: Re: Dry Clutch Show-Off Post by: sofadriver on December 27, 2011, 06:29:33 PM Those are pretty cool looking. 1) which oil to use; 2) which tires to use; 3) which turn signals to use. Having come from years on big-bore Sport-Touring bikes, I'm just glad to be without windshield buffeting and car tire threads! :D Title: Re: Dry Clutch Show-Off Post by: memetic on December 28, 2011, 08:13:52 AM When you get a chance, please start threads on: 1) which oil to use; 2) which tires to use; 3) which turn signals to use. I'm not that far along yet.... Anyway, I was interested in UNIQUE designs people have made lately; like from their stock covers. I'm sure someone has come up with something new or cool in the last four years. I am drafting up a few designs now.
Title: Re: Dry Clutch Show-Off Post by: lazylightnin717 on January 02, 2012, 06:08:28 PM I had a buddy at work mill mine out like this. The holes were tapped and polycarb covers were made with a few different designs. I painted the clutch cover myself and bam... I run it without the poly covers though. They only served to attract a lot of clutch dust

At a minimum throw the caps away and install plain ones. I have an EVR slipper on the S4RS and although I'm not a fan of the slipper I will say the EVR pressure plate is my favorite. |
