Title: Old Monster New Fenders
Post by: Brent on December 29, 2011, 05:47:04 PM
Hey,
Can you put new front/rear fenders (2000-present) on a older (1999 - older) M900
Thanks in advance

Not sure about the rear, but the front is a no go.

The older forks have cast mount points right on the fork lowers.

The newer bikes have plastic strap affairs with different spacing.

I forget which year they changed the mounts.

The bolt hole spacing is very different.

Which forks do you have?

what DP is getting at is the bolt mount spacing...if you could post a pic of your lower fork legs to define exactly which set-up you have, we could better offer answers/solutions...

I think old SS fenders work as well.

Yes, '92-'98 SuperSport front fenders will bolt onto 1999 Monster stock forks.  They changed to the plastic strap mounting in 2000...

yeah you'll need a monster. but possibly an 888 fender

The SuperSport models all have double-sided swingarms.  Only the Superbike models (other than the 749/999 series) had single-sided swingarms.
SS rears won't work because of the shock arrangement. The swinger is completely different.

There were different rear monster fenders that fit the different material swing arms...steel and aluminum.

888 was slightly different too I think. There were different iterations of the mount points on the very early Monster and 851/888
