Title: Black Fog short vid Post by: Magnus on December 30, 2011, 03:39:04 PM It was relatively warm today so I figured lets get a short ride in and charge the battery up... unfortunately while it sat idling the wind tipped it right over; the extra long Cycle Cat side stand didn't help. Damage was relatively light... just the right peg and bar end slider hit the ground so they are a little chewed, but the seat somehow ejected and landed right on the cowl. That's heading up north to Nate soon... but anyway, here's the mini video, for those interested in how an original set of Boom Tubes sounds. My son manned the video controls on his iphone...

How did it fall over on the right side? It sounds like our sidestand was too long then making the bike too upright from what I'm reading. Title: Re: Black Fog short vid Post by: Magnus on December 31, 2011, 10:36:45 AM Thanks! Yes, that's without baffles. I just removed the exhaust to send back to Mark @ Motocreations; he's going to fab up some mini baffles, install crossover, and ceramic coat.
Yes, the sidestand is a longer-than-stock CC part, and the pavement wasn't exactly flat where I let it idle, so it was too upright and the wind just tipped it over. Title: Re: Black Fog short vid Post by: xsephirot on January 01, 2012, 04:18:43 PM magnus i'm looking to pickup some boomtubes soon. I've tried listening to clips I could find on youtube. How do you compare it to termignoni or a stock cored exhaust in terms of the decibel level, deepness, and throatyness.
I want something louder than stock but not obnoxiously loud like harley straight pipes Title: Re: Black Fog short vid Post by: Magnus on January 01, 2012, 05:20:34 PM magnus i'm looking to pickup some boomtubes soon. I want something louder than stock but not obnoxiously loud like harley straight pipes I'll qualify what I'm going to say by mentioning that mine aren't the same as the Boomtubes you'd get if you bought them now, as mine were custom fashioned from my stock exhaust. That being said, my Boomtubes are pretty loud, definitely louder than Termis but not as annoyingly loud as harley straight pipes. I think it also depends on the motor, mine is a 4 valve 916, and the sound is more of a throaty rumble that grows into a roar when you get on the throttle. I'm pretty sure that you can get Boomtubes now with baffles, just check with Mark at MotoCreations. @ Howie - i have to admit i was afraid to pick it up off the pavement and look at the tank. I guess I just lucked out big time... |
