Title: Ducati 2012 Monster 1100 EVO
Post by: DUcatiMadness on January 17, 2012, 03:04:51 PM
I have the Ducati 2012 Monster 1100 EVO. Fun bike no doubt, there are some issues that Ducati needs to address pertaining to its spring and shock adjustibility. Front shock adjustments don't allow for any rigidity value. It keeps same measurements. Shocks bottom out a little too easy sometimes when going through dip or up driveway ramp. Rear shock spring is at its maximum rigidity adjustment. No available threads to increase adjustment. This can all be solved through aftermarket parts though. My exhaust was missing 2 screws that hold on the back cover as well. Anyone else note these issues.

How much do you weigh? Is your dealer an Ohlins-trained specialist? I have a DU-737 in the rear which was ordered from Ohlins and built (valved) and sprung for my weight, 175# + gear. It's a fraction of the cost of the DP Ohlins. I believe we have the same frame but not sure.

Not familiar with your fork but it may work a lot better once the rear end of your bike is sorted. My late 2011 796 has a Marzocchi which works just fine for my weight and riding style. The stock shock did almost nothing.

Ducati Monster Specs call for a rider to be between 150- 210 lbs. for ideal ridability. I am 225 lbs. Issue is that forks and rear shock are basically unadjustable. Whereas the 848 rear shock is rigid.  After-market parts solve problem.  Its not a deal breaker just some things I've noticed about bike. thanks for the tip. Great fun bike!

I do agree about the front shock. I weigh 170 lbs and I've had them bottom out on my 2011 evo monster. It only happenned once for me to adjust my riding.....

My suggestion is to change your front sprocket to a 14T. It made a world of a difference while cruising around town. Enjoy the bike..

Same happens to me, was passing a car and went over a pot hole cover that was a little deep and that sound kinda scared me for a second.
