Title: painting calipers Post by: wannabfast on January 20, 2012, 05:18:17 AM so im debating on painting the calipers on my 796, and i was wondering if i should just leave them alone(least cost, less work)
paint the lettering red(simple, no dis-assembly required), paint the lettering red, calipers black(subtle, but id want to paint all of the calipers front and rear) painting the calipers red lettering white(like cars)(might not look right on a bike) Title: Re: painting calipers Post by: stopintime on January 20, 2012, 09:29:27 AM I'd think that it's quite difficult to do it well and make it last :-\
I vote red lettering and boobies [thumbsup] Title: Re: painting calipers Post by: ducatiz on January 20, 2012, 09:31:35 AM making it last isn't the problem -- doing it so it doesn't look like crap is.
http://www.g2usa.com/ (http://www.g2usa.com/) the brush on paint is the best, but masking and very slow application is key. also, make sure to put a wire on it somewhere so you can hang it up to dry. Title: Re: painting calipers Post by: DucHead on January 20, 2012, 05:57:36 PM I just painted my Bandit calipers (disassembled, primed and spray painted). They look great, but if I ever do it again, I'm having them powdercoated. Powdercoat stands up to brake fluid, and the paint that I used does not.

Mine look neither gaudy, nor over done nor half-assed. :) (http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d147/pompino/53344a59.jpg) Title: Re: painting calipers Post by: DoWorkSon on January 20, 2012, 06:08:02 PM I painted mine... Took some time, but I liked the end result
(http://i688.photobucket.com/albums/vv250/bsurjan/6c7aa995.jpg) Hard part is making sure it doesn't run, and you get all the small nooks and hard to reach areas Title: Re: painting calipers Post by: Raux on January 21, 2012, 01:43:03 AM (http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/47703_109234592466611_100001402122676_68082_4851106_n.jpg)

(http://inlinethumb42.webshots.com/47145/2024403730103537997S600x600Q85.jpg) But I also vote for boobies. Title: Re: painting calipers Post by: wannabfast on January 22, 2012, 09:29:51 AM see, id worry about the calipers not matching up to the forks glossy vs matte
