Hello gentleman, I just purchased a new helmet and while doing so I was asked if I wanted to get another faceshield, I said no then looked up online different colors to see what I liked. Now with my extensive background in Offroad racing the shield color can make all the difference in seeing clearer in different situations, such as a orange shield will help you see better in the fog etc. When I was looking I saw the gold shield which Lordy I love, but does it offer any visual enhancements by putting it on, or is it just for a looks kind of thing. And if there are any visual enhancements to the different types of color shields, would you guys be wiling to lay it out. Thanks!
A lot of this will depend on the manufacturer and tint %. For instance, my Suomy "light" smoke shield is a warm tint (amber/brown) and my AGV race smoke (dark, very dark) is a cool tint (blueish). I'd imagine some of that is on purpose in that a light smoke can still be worn at night, where the amber tint may slightly increase your perception of light, whereas the dark smoke is basically a racing visor for good weather where you want to block as much sun and glare as possible. At night that shield is VERY difficult to see out of. But even Suomy's dark smoke visor is more warm than cool (like AGV's).
But beyond manufacturer preference on a warm vs cool tint, the gold "iridium" visors won't be any different to the blue or red or chrome "iridium" visors from the same manufacturer.
What brand helmet is it?
Helmet is a ICON alliance
If it's an iridium style shield it won't have a functional effect like a yellow tinted shield would. You're probably best off going to the shop and peeping through the various shield to check the tint. Each manufacturer is a bit different
