Post by: 118811 on January 26, 2012, 06:47:42 PM
Looking a nice CNC billet handlebar top clamp for  98' M900.
Any of you guys know of a maker....to replace the smooth brick that came stock?
Thanks

Do you mean just the top piece that clamps a conventional handlebar?

We have risers that are the top pieces, and bottom pieces - separated, so 4 pieces total, in billet.   Not just for our triples, but would work with OEM triple.

I have also seen the piece drilled and tapped for a RAM Mount Ball, for mounting GPS.  I think this is neat, but also... "Perhaps he gets lost a lot?"   [laugh] [wine]

If you are looking around, you must know that your spacing is "narrow" (only 32mm), so later model clamps and plates will not fit your setup.  Be sure to check!

If you want just the top - look at cycle cat. They make a replacement top triple for older mosters - But they DO NOT take risers. They are for clip-ons only.

I've got a SBK conversion triple (53mm vs 50mm upper forks) I'd sell off if you've got grand designs. It's been in it's box for years now and never a mile on it.

I'm pretty sure I've got a Fast by Ferracci one in my spares box.

I think "Paulimoto" (spelling?)  used to make something like this too - but not sure if for 620/695 era or for M750/900...

Really hoping to find one more like the ones offered for SF's
Kind of skeletonized

I think he's looking for the clampydoo for the handlebars, not a replacement triple

From our experience, we have not seen one made to this specification for the older models, nor would it be likely to be made since the spacing between the bolts changed from 32 to 38mm on Monsters, making it inconvenient to make two products.

Ours is not skeletonized, it is 4-pieces, so no middle - the center of the bar is visible. Close to what you are after, but no cigar.

You might also check with paulimoto, divina racing, slingshot racing, etc.  Perhaps you could take one "as a blank" to a machine shop to have it milled to your liking, but then it will not be anodized throughout.

Yeah, I thought of that....but not worth the $$$ to me.
Thanks
