Title: removing rear hugger.
Post by: tristantumble on January 27, 2012, 07:31:43 AM
i really like the clean look of having the full rear wheel exposed. i have a tailchop kit waiting to be put on my bike and was thinking of getting rid of the rear hugger as well. Since that part ties into the chain guard, other then getting more splash back on wet days..what are the downsides of removing that bit?  also once its off, can it be put back?

thanks.

I removed mine. Just be prepared for swamp ass if you ride in the rain. If it's like mine, it's completely remountable, just 3 screws.

My 98' has 3 screws as well...very simple & easy.
I had a DP carbon touring hugger, covered the whole wheel.  Took a dremel to it....made it into a "sport" model much shorter.
I love the look & it still gives protection to the shock etc.

I don't use photobucket or flickr.
I have some pics if someone will host them up?

Quick question, where did you get your seat cowl?!

Hi, the cowl was on the bike when I bought it 2 years ago.
I do think it's oem, the previous owner had the Corse stripe & Ducati shield applied and then clear coated.
