Title: I ran a marathon
Post by: rule62 on January 27, 2012, 10:02:31 AM
It was a great way to celebrate 7 years smoke-free!

Great work - on both the marathon & the seven years!

Marathons are such a waste of time. Faster to take the bike.. ;-)

Just kidding. Congrats on kicking the butts, and for finishing such a landmark of fitness and dedication.

I think I recall the day you quit.  It was that ride when you tried to pass everyone with the 620 going up a hill and were nearly killed by an oncoming truck, right?!   [cheeky]

I remember that ride! That was the day I started smoking!

Ha!!! That's my patented move! And it wasn't the truck that nearly killed me, it was its mirror.

Actually, I stopped smoking 7 months before I bought the 620. I traded my smoke $$$ for my bike payment. I made a deal that if I started smoking that I'd have to get rid of the bike.

Congrats, Ryan.

You still running?

Let's just say I've taken a "break" since the marathon.  ;)   I'm definitely gonna pick it back up again here soon. There are a few 5K and 10K charity runs coming up. I'm not much of a competitor. I just like the meditative quality that I've found during a long run. I wouldn't trade that for much.

Hey Ryan! Congrats man! I'm still working my way up to a full. Did a half last year (Yakota Frostbite Run) 1/2 marathon in 35° weather!

Was selected for the Tokyo Marathon this year but had to withdraw due to my recent issue. Hardware from my last surgery in 2007 got infected and had to be removed.

Good deal!  I did the same (without the relapse clause).  Bike is paid now...

Awesome!.  I ran the one last year for my 29th birthday.  I would have to say the weather this year was waaaay better.
