Title: I caved... Post by: TAftonomos on January 31, 2012, 07:27:06 PM found a deal I couldn't pass up.
10' MTS1200 touring. Has all the carbon bits of the sport, and then some. Full exhaust + tune. Fresh rubber. 5800 miles. I fly out to Houston on Thursday morning to pick her up, then ride it back between cold fronts trying to evade/avoid the rain. The dealer I found near me has put me at ease (unlike the previous one). I hope I never need them, but at least they made me feel welcome/like a customer despite the fact I've only purchased a few misc parts from them. Still under OE warranty until October 12', I'll probably snag an extended warranty on that thing before too long. Planned mods? some heated gear for me, a GPS, and $$$ for gas :D Title: Re: I caved... Post by: thought on January 31, 2012, 07:44:54 PM congrats! what color?

This the 2nd trip to Houston for a bike right? Last one was a ST3/4? Didn't hang on that one very long. I'm sure this multi will treat you better. Title: Re: I caved... Post by: Travman on February 01, 2012, 09:41:02 AM What color? I just drove past my Ducati shop a few minutes ago and saw a white one. It surprised me how good it looked in white.
Title: Re: I caved... Post by: TAftonomos on February 01, 2012, 09:52:46 AM It's black [thumbsup]
Second trip to Houston for a bike. Going to be at the airport around 9, then cabbing it to HSBK to meet up with the PO and take delivery. I ended up selling the ST4s to a guy at work. I needed the scratch, and he made me an offer I couldn't pass up. I've missed the ST ever since, now I've found it's (permanent?) replacement. Title: Re: I caved... Post by: Slide Panda on February 01, 2012, 09:59:31 AM Man the 1200 is a great bike. it's on my list of things to get when the lottery comes in. I got to ride an 1100 MTS and the 1200 back to back and it's night an day. I had a soft spot for the older multis after some previous test rides... but after that 1200 they are dead to me.
Enjoy the ride Title: Re: I caved... Post by: Travman on February 01, 2012, 11:31:23 AM Can't go wrong with black. [thumbsup]

I think they'll need to bury mine with me. Title: Re: I caved... Post by: El Matador on February 01, 2012, 01:32:08 PM Hey man, you should swing by my/desmolu's cafe while you're in town and have a beer.
The people at HSBK are actually pretty cool as well. Enjoy the new ride Title: Re: I caved... Post by: TAftonomos on February 01, 2012, 04:15:21 PM Tell me where it is, and I'll see if I can't make it by. I should be there around 9, but to beat the rain I've got to get on the road fairly soon.
Title: Re: I caved... Post by: Preisker on February 01, 2012, 05:22:24 PM I test rode one at Santa Barbara Ducati, it's like a big dirt bike, it pulls the front wheel off effortlessly. Watch out for your license.

Title: Re: I caved... Post by: Travman on February 03, 2012, 06:59:18 PM Very classy. I may follow your lead someday. I need an do it all kind of bike.

Title: Re: I caved... Post by: TAftonomos on February 04, 2012, 07:36:18 AM Going to order up some pieces today that I feel the bike should have :)
The lower cowl/chin fairing. Should I replace it in carbon, or have it PC'd black? The passenger pegs I'm going to PC to match the frame The exhaust heat shield needs to be PC'd black as well. I need a tail-bag. Those side cases make the bike WIDE and cause you to do a chuck-norris reverse roundhouse kick to dismount the bike without scuffing them. So for daily riding I'll leave them off. A tank protector or scuff guard. For now, thats it. The thing absolutely RIPS in sport mode. It's retarded fast, way more than I'd ever need...ever. It almost feels wrong, sitting that upright and accelerating like a SBK. Title: Re: I caved... Post by: Monsterlover on February 04, 2012, 08:33:56 AM You're really not doing anything to help Buckethead and me hate you less.
;) Title: Re: I caved... Post by: The Bacon Junkie on February 04, 2012, 12:06:52 PM I'll admit to having long-distance twisty fantasies two-up on the new Multi... [evil]
Just don't tell my 999 that... ;) [bacon] Title: Re: I caved... Post by: bdub on February 04, 2012, 03:26:40 PM Nice bike.
I've dreamed of two up riding but the wife doesn't Title: Re: I caved... Post by: Monsterlover on February 04, 2012, 03:30:01 PM +1 :-\
