Title: Rim Question
Post by: TitanMonsterS4R on February 06, 2012, 07:50:12 AM
Purchased what I thought was a 999 front rim (10 spoke).  Unfortunately, after ordering 999 galfer rotors it turns out my front rim is not a 999.  How can I identify what type of rim is on the front of my bike?

The rim is fitted to a pair of (CONFIRMED) 999 forks using my stock 2005 S2R 800 axle bolt with a spacer.  Rotors are stock 5 bolts whereas the 999 galfers are a 6 bolt pattern....

Where would I find part number on the rim?

Might have a part number cast into one of the spokes.

If they're 10-spoke with 5-bolt rotors, then they're 848/1098/S4Rs/S4Rt/etc.

A picture would help a lot.....

sounds like you have the wrong brake parts sent by Galfer.

I don't know of any 999 that had 6-bolt rotors, maybe the early 999s.

After further inspection, I found that the rotors are 4mm think but they don't have a part # stamped on them anywhere.

Can't seem to make out the part number of the rim but it looks like 3.50.007.E but I can't find that part of the Ducati OEM parts site.

The mystery continues....

Did some more digging to find out what type of rim it is.  Found a Brembo stamp on the bike as well.
Also since I was able to use my existing axle bolt and the rotors (4mm thick) fit with my goldline calipers, could they be 5 bolt 320mm dished rotors?

Simply perplexed that I can't find a serial number that corresponds to anything on the net.

999 wheels are 5 bolt, front and rear. Which is kind of a pain in the ass, as I'd like my speedo to be accurate. But whatevs.

Thanks buckethead.....

Now I'm truly confused......If you 999 rotor bolts are 5 bolt, why do I have a 6 bolt that Galfer says are for a 999.  The packaging says they are 999 rotors will have to double check.  Have another pair out to me hopefully something comes of this otherwise both are going back...
