Title: Cortech sport saddle bags on M1100
Post by: ggemelos on February 20, 2012, 11:41:30 AM
Does anyone have the Cortech sports saddle bags on an M1100?  I was looking to buy them, but I am worried that the rear indicator lights will get in the way.  Just curious if others have used them without any issues.  Pictures would be great.  Not sure if it matters, but I have the Ducati rear fender eliminator installed and the exhaust has been moved, BoomTubes.  If this does not work, I might be forced to get the Light Werkes tail light with integrated indicator lights  ;D  Even though the integrated lights look cool, I would not mind saving the money.

No first hand experience, but I think you might have another issue...

Is there anything stopping them swinging in/under the tail?

The Cortech saddle bags have straps in the front of each bag that attach to the passenger pegs mounts.  I have removed those mounts, but you can use the frame rail under the seat as a good replacement.  I think that should prevent the saddle bags from rolling under the tail.  I also think the massive duffel bag that I strap down to the passenger seat, via anchors I have sunk into the seat pan, will help as well.

how bout some of the Givi saddlebag brackets?

might space it out far enough to clear the signals.
if you have the stock signals...maybe some smaller aftermarket ones?

I thought about that, but it would be cheaper to get the tail light with integrated turn signals rather than have to buy the givi brackets; it would also look a hell of a lot better as well.

In case anyone has the same question in the future, they do fit, but are right up against the rear indicator lights.  I ordered the Light Werkez rear tail light with integrated indicator lights anyway  ;D  They are back ordered on monsterparts right now.  Up until now, I have been fine with the duffel I strap down to the back.  But I am doing a two month Alaska/whatever-else-I-can-think-of trip in June.  The extra space will come in handy.
