Post by: songau on February 20, 2012, 08:49:24 PM
Hi all

I live in VietNam and this is the fist time I own Ducati monster

I bought SLIP ON OPEN EXHAUST SYSTEM for the DUCATI MONSTER 796 -- Product code: S-D10SO4-ZC ,
It is shipping to VN and I will install it to my 795

peopel say that I must install The new ECU reflash or reflash on the original ECU or instal Bazzaz or PC V...

Would you help me explain it more?

thank you.

Most termi systems come with a new ecu and freeflow air filter

but the 795 is a new model so i would confirm with your dealer

Raux,

He's in Viet Nam and has no dealer. http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=55319.0 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=55319.0) Seems he ordered a homologated slip on. It's a 796 in a 696 chassis as far as I can see. Should he not be fine "as is"?

Regards!

Hi Raux,Curmudgeon.
last year 2011,Ducati had built their second factory in ThaiLand, they want to explore & sell their bikes for Asia market, compete with Japanese Bikes.
So,I think: Ducati wanna produce a bike has strong engine (800cc of M 796 ) but smaller shape (lower seat, lighter weight of M 696 chassis) and it maybe suit for Asian, beause Japanese Bikes have heavy weight.
Monster 795 is their 1st result. Monster 795 is made in ThaiLand , VietNam is near ThaiLand  :) ,then, It's easily purchased

http://www.ducati.com/bikes/monster/795/index.do (http://www.ducati.com/bikes/monster/795/index.do)

I bought this bike from authorization Ducati dealer  in VN . My bike has warranty in 2 years . Their technical staff understand clearly their bike but I think they can't deeply understand aftermarket exhaust or ECU or airFilter...as you.

I want my bike has stronger sound , increase power....
Hence. I bought SLIP-ON OPEN EXHAUST from the Akrapovic dealer in VN. It is shipping from Slovenia to VietNam
The Akrapovic SLIP-ON OPEN EXHAUST SYSTEM for the DUCATI MONSTER 796 --> http://www.akrapovic.com/motorcycle-exhaust/products/ducati/model/monster-796-2010/slip-on-a0f7cddffe/ (http://www.akrapovic.com/motorcycle-exhaust/products/ducati/model/monster-796-2010/slip-on-a0f7cddffe/)
In future , I wanna buy K&N air filter.

I read many threads,comments....peaople say that I must install PC V or ECU reflash or...if i don't do that when install the above slip-on , my bike will not run smoothy
I wish I can receive your advise.

1-If I only install Akra . What should I do with ECU ?

2-If I install Akra & K&N airfilter . What should I do?

3-I just install Akra that enough, do not do anything else!!!

thanks

You dont have to do anything if you put on the slipons

if you put on the k&n you either have to get the ducati performance map on your ecu or get a pc v

I'm the wrong person to ask about fueling mods but Raux and ungeheuer know a lot more about this. See what they say.

Again, if you just fit the slip-ons, you probably don't need to do anything. If you want even more noise and remove the DB-killers in the mufflers, the ECU may or may not be still OK. If you fit a K&N and open up the air box, you will definitely need your ECU reprogrammed. You will then get more noise and a bit more power.

Only you can decide. Keep in mind that I have no idea what kind of roads you have, but my first suggestion for a mod is a 14T front sprocket. Your dealer should have those. That will make low speeds easier to handle and make the bike feel more responsive. You will also be able to use 6th gear without going 130+ kph.  ;)

For my roads, a 796 is quite fast enough! For some there is never enough.

Are the slip ons you are buying with or without catalytic converters?  No cat and you might run into lean running in open loop (high RPM or hard acceleration).  I looked at the Ducati catalogue and see no listing for your 795 and everything I see for a 796 or 696 comes with an air filter and ECU.  Ah, I just looked at Akrapovic's sight.  You might consider buying the the S-D10SO4-HZC, since it does come with the muffler and cat insert just in case.

This is their web site:

You might also want to e mail them directly:

I ran the 696 with no cat's no db killers with no K&N and didn't need any ECU or PC V mods.

The new ECUs do fine as long as you don't change the intakes and/or drastically change the exhausts. For example running custom short exhaust pipes with little or no muffler

Hi Raux & Curmudgeon

I installed Akra slip ons with no CAT , no dB killer. the sound is loud, great!!!!
(I will upload to DMF for preference)
until now there is no problem with my bike

At low RPM (under 3500), low speed (<50 mph), my bike it runs smoothness, I can easily ride in town
Over 3500 RPM , it get strength and speed up quickly

Akrapovic, their product is good & prove "what they say":

Thank you Raux &   Curmudgeon  for your advice
