Title: M1100 MWR Air filter upgrade results
Post by: Scoober1103 on February 21, 2012, 05:59:18 PM
Morning all, as mentioned I am new to the Ducati Monster world and in the beginnings of upgrading my m1100. I have been reading here about the MWR two piece kit to fully open up the stock airbox for maximum flow and how there was a call out for volunteers to set up and dyno for a comparison. Just wondering how that went and if there are any figures out yet?

I have a pair of SC Project Slip-on cans and I have bought a new DP ecu from a Termi slip-on kit (not installed) and now I am looking at air filter options. I have no plans at this stage on installing a power commander or the like but I am definitely going down the road of removing the exhaust flapper assembly and installing a Duc.EE.

I guess my question is has anyone a comment on this proposed set up or been down this road (Termi Slip-ons+DP ecu+Hi-flow air filter) with any feedback positive or negative? I don't wont to make a mistake and degrade the ride in any way! Should I stick with just the MWR drop in filter to begin with to better suit the DP ecu?

The bike is a new adventure for me and starting off fairly basic.

Cheers and thanks in advance!

Kämna has a similar (?) kit and they had great results, but with a PCV

If you go with the MWR or any other intake modifications, some type of tuning is needed...

There are numerous threads on here regarding the ecu reflash vs. powercommaner vs. other tuning hardware options....  Each has pro's and cons. If you have a dyno tuner close, the power commander option might be best

Kaemna is a rebadged MWR kit.

Ok so please excuse my electronic ignorance but what does the DP ecu offer from the standard OE when mated with a performance air filter? Or is it practically unnoticeable?

My bike is purely for recreation and no commuting or stop start traffic just straight to the twisty bits and mountains!

I'm in OZ so not sure of the re-flash options but I now have two ecu's to play with.

Thanks again.

Scott

the DP ecu offers a different map that is richer Air/Fuel mixture to compensate for the increased air flow.

For reflash you can get a Rexxer tuner and actually do it yourself. or send it a number of shops that do the same.

He says he already has bought a DP ecu. Guess he just wants to know the differance of the two.

I'd say the best air filter option you have with the DP ecu is the DP filter and airbox combo. The map was made for this filter. The other filters mention would probably require additional tuning.

G'Day matey.  My M1100 is used in the same riding conditions as yours  ;).   I've modded ECU(s)... modded intake.... and I'd be happy to compare notes.... What part of OZ?  PM me if you think I can be of assistance.
