Title: New Ducatis, plastic tank. Still an issue? Post by: HotIce on February 25, 2012, 12:25:55 PM I own my 2012 EVO since end of October 2011, always fed with lethanol gas (like I had a choice), and my tank either did not move at all, or I did not notice it (which is same for me).
Now, I would not want to speak too soon, but it seems to me that the new bikes are not affected by it. Could be, that even if the material remained the same, different thickness/shape totally masks the issue?!? Title: Re: New Ducatis, plastic tank. Still an issue? Post by: justinrhenry on February 25, 2012, 02:08:50 PM if it's plastic it could still develop the problem. not all bikes have had the issue. i have a 2010 streetfighter and haven't had any swelling.

Post by: SDRider on February 25, 2012, 03:35:00 PM GP Motorcycles has told me that the supplier has changed the material on the newer tanks and it should be less prone to expansion. I helped my friend coat the inside of his GT1000 tank and the plastic is a yellowish translucent color but the tank on my bike is dark gray.
I have a M1100 EVO too but I've had mine since June 2011 and I've yet to notice any expansion. By the way, the tank is hidden below the painted panels where your tank is.
