Title: M900 frame interchange?
Post by: jt-rocket on February 26, 2012, 01:05:26 PM
Hey guys, hoping some of you experts might be able to help out a new guy.  I just bought a '96 Monster but it doesn't have a title.  The guy claims his ex-wife has the title and he has (or had) the bike.  I've had a cop friend run the VIN and it didn't come back stolen so I figured I could find some solution to getting it registered.  If I can find a titled frame to rebuild the bike onto, what models and years can I use?  I'm comfortable with a welder so I can move mounting brackets and such if an EFI Monster frame would work but I'd rather stay away from structural stuff.  thanks for any help.

If you have a perfectly good, complete Monster, why opt for swapping frames?

I'd chase down the supposed title.  If that becomes a dead end, you can get a title issued depending on the state and their regulations.  In some states you can get a title from a bill of sale if the VIN comes back clean (as is your case).

My 2 pesos.

What he said...

If that turns into a dead-end, AFAIK any Monster frame up to '00 will work without mods, but I suspect a '00 M900 won't as it was fuel injected.
