Title: Two-up Grab Bar Post by: triangleforge on February 27, 2012, 11:03:35 AM After a long, two-up ride over the weekend, the discussion has been reopened about adding some mod to make my passenger more secure on the ST2.
I wouldn't mind adding a topcase, but the aftermarket options from Givi for this old bike (1998) are limited, expensive, only available mailorder from Europe (making them even MORE expensive), and apparently will require me to remove the racks for the stock hardbags. How stupid is that? I'm looking at the Vista racks, but I can't say I like the look very much and I'm not sure how much benefit I'd get in terms of making my honey feel like she's not going to come off the back without the full pack rack - and sorry, unless it's an Indiana, I don't really want to add a sissybar to my Ducati. I suppose we could get the pack and just run around with it on there empty when we're riding two up just so I don't feel so silly... Then just today, I saw this on the DucCutters Facebook update: PSR 2-UP PASSENGER BAR.m4v (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXVrjCyfl8I&feature=youtu.be#) http://www.psr-usa.com/acb/showprod.cfm?&DID=43&CATID=29&ObjectGroup_ID=129 (http://www.psr-usa.com/acb/showprod.cfm?&DID=43&CATID=29&ObjectGroup_ID=129) I've sent her photos to see if that might be an option, but in the meantime, does anyone have any feedback, particularly on whether or not the mounting point (on the gas cap ring of my steel tank) would present any issues? Title: Re: Two-up Grab Bar Post by: corey on February 28, 2012, 08:22:07 AM i'm no expert, but i probably wouldn't worry.
if it were a PLASTIC tank, maybe deformation from pulling/tugging would be a concern EVENTUALLY.... but i imagine steel will likely hold |
