Mark told me last month when I was at the shop, he was trying to get Jake. I received the email this morning. I'm excited.  [clap]

 [thumbsup] for Mark! Those guys deserve it, but I wonder if Jake will have any growing pains with the Duc.

He is a damn good racer. If the bike is right he will make the most of it. [thumbsup] I've always thought of him as another Nicky Hayden. Always came across polite, friendly, no BS and a hard worker. And he produced decent results. What's not to like? ;) And I can't imagine them not doing a good job on the bike prep.

I rode with quite a few of those guys. It is rare to find a group of people that enjoy riding as much as those guys. Any chance they could safely head up to the mountains, they were there with at least 10 guys.

203.93mph = 328 kph.  that's top wsbk speeds.  huh.

I imagine the Daytona bowl helps with top end speed. Twenty+ years ago Kenny Roberts matched the same speed on his 680cc TZ Yammyhammer hybrid.

Hayes must have had a "tow" ......

He was way faster than his teammate who is a lot smaller than him.
But it was first practice session after all.

And the EBR (Eslick) was almost 12 mph slower

Still pretty "huh" alright ;)

May was clocked at 205 ,Fillmore at 203.
The following speeds were lower.

Elena Myers Makes Daytona History

Buffalo, NY: Elena Myers made history today, becoming thefirst woman in AMA Pro history to win a professional motorcycle race at Daytona International Speedway. The 19-year-old from Discovery Bay, CA, took the win in the ten lap AMA Pro SuperSport race after a race-long battle with three other riders. And she won in a big way, taking the lead on the final lap and leading out of the chicane, a move that rarely pays off. Meyers powered to her win on the all-new Buffalo-made D211 GP-A tire.

"It was a phenomenal race," said Myers. "I stayed up there earlier and led a little bit, then stayed behind to see if I could catch back up. I knew I had the bike to lead on the last lap. My team gave me a great machine and I'm happy to get a win for them. I was crying like a baby the whole cool-down lap. It was a great feeling. That's why we come out here and do what we do?to stand on top of the box."

hellz yeah it was.  coming back from that crash at all.. and then winning?!  no wonder he was so emotional.  awesome race.

Dannny Eslick and Geoff May both placed third on Saturday and Sunday respectively on the EBR machine....so...when does the homologation rule kick in on that machine?

I love the front going up the hill.

Having ridden RA several times and being at a AMA pace (if AMA Superbikes ran 25-30 seconds slower per lap LOL), I can tell you that the track is tricky fast. Turns 1, 5, 8, 9, 12, and 14 are all A LOT faster than you would think. I had a very hard time with turn 1 especially. The thought of going through a turn, knee on the deck and glancing at the speedo and seeing 90+ mph led to me taping over the speedo on the track bike. Your brain starts screaming statements of rationality at you.

Turn 5 is one of those turns that you get speed scrubbed off, tip it in and roll through the apex thinking "Shit...I could have gone faster...". 8 is deceiving because like turn 5, it is downhill into the turn but you can go a lot faster than you expect with a downhill entry.
The Carousel (9) is pretty much 3rd gear, top of the RPM range, relax and go...
Canada Corner (12) is my favorite turn on the track because the exit opens WAY up and you can carry way more speed through there. Only scary part is the shade sometimes makes cool spots on the track and can be a bit sketchy on cooler days.
The last turn before the front straight is actually a pretty big key to going fast at RA. Getting a great drive out of there and up the hill means you can top out in 6th on 600s and 750s and get pretty close to doing the same on the superbikes.

I have never raced in anger at Road America but can see why a lot of the pros like that track. It is silly fast and a great atmosphere. And Elkhart Lake loves its racing history. The whole atmosphere of the place is a lot of fun.

Nice going Josh Hayes for AMA/SBK title #3. Pretty much a safe bet even before the season started. But still nice for him... I like Hayes and he has worked really hard over the years to get to this point in his career. Congrats to him and the Yammyhammer team. [thumbsup] [beer]

I don't know why Blake Young didn't even start the race yet (scared of a wet track? [popcorn]) but he still only had a whisker thin chance of taking the title anyway. Maybe he was too busy playing X-Box in the pits and forgot to race. [laugh]

And the long time vet Steve Rapp got a 2nd place finish on the Kwacker! Also nice to see.

When you go down to Miami, you have to expect the track to be wet 50% of the time.

Can't see that race location lasting too long.....no fans in the stands and most of the racing is on the infield.

Homestead is not a great bike track. It's an oval with an infield. South Florida has the worst fair weather fans in the world.

Daytona's only ~3 hours away...how'd AMA/DMG wind up there in the first place?

Are they taking the bikes from South Beach to NOLA with the gas tanks full of smack/crack?

IF...and I know that is a big one at that...they see the playing field as a level surface across the board which could bring a level of $$$ to AMA/DMG because of it, I think they can be brought around in this regard.
