I've read quite a few threads that others have posted on the fuel pump that it seems like there can be poorly soldered connections, blown fuses etc. I'm not sure if I have poorly soldered connections or not and before I go to fiddling with the wiring where it plugs into the bottom of the fuel pump, I thought I'd ask for some advice.
I bought a 2008 S2R 1000 about 3 weeks ago that had about 3400 miles on it and now it has about 4200 miles on there. I went to ride Tuesday afternoon and the fuel pump wouldn't activate when I turned the ignition on and the bike wouldn't crank. I left it alone and tried a couple more times and the fuel pump wouldn't come on. Tonight I lifted up the tank, unhooked the connector from the fuel pump and replugged that in, checked all the fuses and pulled back the rubber sheath where the wires plug into the bottom of the pump itself. Everything looked quite clean and there was no obvious sign of an issue. I put the tank back down, inserted the key and the fuel pump kicked in and the bike started right up. I turned the bike off and back on 3 times letting it run a little each time without an issue.
My question is do you think something came loose that I fixed by unplugging / plugging or would you investigate things further? I don't want to undo the wiring and whatever the black rubber stuff is that holds all that into the bottom of the fuel pump if it's unlikely there could be a problem. Please weigh in.
