Title: Anyone use wordpress? Post by: He Man on March 16, 2012, 03:03:49 PM Anyone use wordpress?
I accidently chucked a grenade at my drupal 6.25 site, and either i start fresh with drupal 7, or i go with wordpress. Drupal is a pain in the ass to work with sometimes, but its great to turn a site into something thats not just a blog, but i can make it whatever i want it to be, where i think wordpress is blog only and i cant make a "page" dedicated to hosting stuff like service manuals, books or random stuff i like to have access to. i looked up a lot of reviews on both, and couldnt come to a conclusion, but since i was familar with drupal, i decided to just stick with it and went with drupal 7. i REALLY like drupal 7! so im glad i stuck with it, but i dont know how wordpress is so i guess i cant compare. I know you've already gone forward with a new Drupal deployment, but Wordpress could have done what you needed. You can define static pages, the theme can have any number of different 'page' layouts that you can change later. Depending on your needs/wants a 'page' can contain posts (as in a single blog type entry). But posts don't need to be viewed as bloggy anymore. Wordpress has come a long way from being just a blog engine. Title: Re: Anyone use wordpress? Post by: Le Pirate on March 20, 2012, 01:05:23 PM I use square space (squarespace.com).
Hosting and design rolled into one. Not just blog pages either. They've got good photo albums and other stuff too. Title: Re: Anyone use wordpress? Post by: He Man on March 20, 2012, 03:48:13 PM I didnt want to relearn a new system (though wordpress seems simple as hell) and the new drupal 7 ended up being much better than 6. I really like the new platform.
What im looking for is a new gallery CMS. In the exchange of deleting files, i somehow lost all the thumbnails in my gallery. all the links work, but it wont reproduce the thumbnails. I don't know if you've checked out square space before, but everything is drag and drop...and you can import whatever you have left of your site design from before. It can import pretty much anything I've seen thrown at it. WP, blogger, etc...I'm pretty sure it'll do drupal too. I like it cause I'm lazy, and don't want to do any CSS. You need to resize something...drag it. Need to throw an image in...drop it on the page. [thumbsup] |
