Title: brake problems
Post by: Jason1 on March 18, 2012, 09:31:43 AM
I have a 2001 900 monster. and over the winter I took the calipers apart to paint.  I bled them this winter and also put on new levers.  Now here is the problem.  After a few miles of riding and braking the front brakes get stiffer and stiffer to the point of not moving.  I had to relieve some pressure from the bleaders last night just to make it home.  I rebled them this morning and still have the same problem.  What can I do to fix this problem?  These are also the non coffin brakes and has a bleader screw next to the lever also.  Thanks for any input Jason

Make sure you have sufficient play at the lever, you need 1-1.5 mm. free play.

Back this out until described freeplay and/or the problem goes away

Sorry - you said NON coffin, but the principle is the same - just another type of screw

thanks for the quick replies.  the pivot screw was alittle to tight and seemed to put pressure on the brakes.  will let you know if that did it.

I got it.  the plunger didn't seat all the way into the pivot and was putting pressure on the brakes.  Thanks for the help guys.
