Title: Women's Leather Jacket ?
Post by: Duchess on March 18, 2012, 06:27:26 PM
I'm looking to treat myself to a really good leather jacket to go with my new Monster.  I mean, why spend all the money on the bike, and then not look good, stay warm, be protected, be seen ?

I definitely need a woman's cut ... I'm a little big up top and if I get a dude's jacket to fit my girls, then its too baggy elsewhere. I saw great reviews of the Dainese Alien, but there doesn't seem to be a women's version.

So, lady riders - what's the dream jacket ?  Something with matching zip in pants would be ideal,

Duchess

REV-IT has a good selection of gear for women:

The Ducati women's stuff is decent and actually less than the unbranded Dainese. It tends to run snug and always best to try on first and on your bike. Stiff is OK as it will soften up. Use this pdf and look up your dimensions in cm. http://www.dainese.com/media/catalog/sizing_chart_eng.pdf (http://www.dainese.com/media/catalog/sizing_chart_eng.pdf)

Old guys have a fit problem too.  ;) The stuff would have fit fine when I was 30 - 35! Now I have to upsize and compromise.

If you have to buy by phone, find a place which does easy returns and exchanges.

it's really best to try on different jackets if you can.  We all come in different sizes.

Dainese does make women's jackets, pants and suits if that's what fits you.

The Rev'it stuff is nice, but seems to run a little on the small size up top, but that's my opinion.  Again I think it's best to try on until you find the one that's most comfortable with the styling and protection you want.

Thanks, Grrrl,

I'm a little big up top, so I need something accommodating. I'll see what I can try on from local dealers - there is a First Gear Scout jacket that looks quite nice, and there is a First Gear dealer in town. The rest will have to be mail order and send it back it it doesn't fit ...

I would suggest posting up in the women's board (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=25.0).  It's been quiet lately... so it would be refreshing.  ;)

If you don't find something you like locally, MotorcycleGear.com has a decent selection of women's riding gear, and an excellent return policy and customer service.

They're also a board sponsor.  [thumbsup]

The Vanson Ladies Armored Comet might be a great option.

Revzilla just did a short run down of some of the new for 2012 ladies jackets

Ladies Guide: Jackets & Pants 2012 at RevZilla.com (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZOhHUrLRxI#)

If you like the retro look - I might suggest Johnsons Leathers
http://www.johnsonleather.com/wn-200-af.htm (http://www.johnsonleather.com/wn-200-af.htm)
- You can get their wears with T-Pro/Forcefield armor

I had vanson in the past, and the leather quality is quite nice, but the designs and tech are a bit dated. They need to update - their stuff hasn't changed in decades.

I prefer to think of Vanson as Timeless instead of pop culturey! ;D

Since last year i wear Dainese textile one, Adina model i think which is made of d-dry (like gore-tex)

I know it's not leather, but it's to say that the fit is girly awesome, comfy never cold, never wet... I don't regret my choice.

Thanks - I ordered a Revit jacket called raven in black / white. Hasn't shown up yet but I liked the fit of the textile Revit jacket I tried on in the store. So hoping the leather is a similar cut.
