Title: Motogadget wiring
Post by: MotoPsycho on March 19, 2012, 01:56:38 PM
I've got a few options for wiring my motoscope but I'm curious where others that have done have pulled the constant hot and ignition hot from. Since unwiring the dash I could pull ignition hot off of 12v+ and te ground for the dash lights correct? Was thinking about pulling the constant hot off of the ignition switch connector since its indirectly tied to the battery and the fusible link can come apart. Am I thinking right on this or am I thinking too hard?

So long as both are fused individually, should work fine.

Last one I did had 2 empty slots in the OE fuse-box so I disassembled it and then wired both through it.  Came out slick...

Well, kinda like this:

I used Belden 8 strand wire for running the Motoscope Pro wiring and also the idiot light wiring to the back. There is also a 3 strand wire there for the toggle switch. I followed Stew's advice and ran it all to the back where there's much more real estate to play with.

I thought of that. I haven't done it yet but I'll make a rubber rain flap on the underside. Been busy painting my new headlight.

I thought the Motogadget was supposed to replace fuses and relays.  What's with the fuse box and relays there?

M-Unit does, not the gauge.

The M unit is the next thing on my list.

The gauge I have is the Motoscope Pro, not the mini.

The reason I did the wiring the way I did was for ease of diagnosis in the event something goes wrong. It's cleaner and more serviceable than crimping an ass load of wires together.
