Title: Do you think this is doable on a Monster? Post by: jvax on March 23, 2012, 06:18:37 PM I'd love to see this done on a Monster. Title: Re: Do you think this is doable on a Monster? Post by: Grampa on March 23, 2012, 06:49:53 PM I'd get lost in the cones.

i can't imagine how many times he must have fallen while practising. the new Ridge Motorsport Park is close to me and they plan to make autocross a big part of their program. i hope they will allow bikes because i'd be all over this! note the size of his rear sprocket. :o Title: Re: Do you think this is doable on a Monster? Post by: wannabfast on March 24, 2012, 07:07:00 AM if cops can do this... on something that big, im sure you can do it on a monster [popcorn] [bacon]

Post by: muskrat on March 24, 2012, 07:36:08 AM those bars aren't stock on the harley, it makes a huge difference which is why I'm going to change mine to 13 inch.
Title: Re: Do you think this is doable on a Monster? Post by: sbrguy on March 24, 2012, 07:41:04 AM if you notice on the cbr it looks like the rear sprocket is changed for lower gearing, also the handlebars are there not clip ons, and also look a tthe front fender looks like they may have lowered the bike so that it turns a bit bewtter.
but i agree i looks like if you practice enough a monster should be able to do that stuff with the proper mods. Title: Re: Do you think this is doable on a Monster? Post by: d3vi@nt on March 24, 2012, 08:06:01 AM Maybe with some modification? I took my '07 Monster back to the MSF course I did a year ago. I tried to do the figure-8 in the long, narrow box and while I had no problem with the Honda I rode at the time, I couldn't do it on my Duc due to the limited turning radius of the bike. That's not to say that someone more skilled than myself couldn't pull it off...
Title: Re: Do you think this is doable on a Monster? Post by: mickyvee on March 24, 2012, 10:16:08 AM [thumbsdown] The lousy steering lock on my Evo would ensure that you fell off at the first cone! Especially with me at the controls!

That's not to say that someone more skilled than myself couldn't pull it off... Dont worry.. I cant either and I have alot of access to the box! I can make the left easily. But the turning radius (m1100) places the throttle almost completely against the tank when attempting to make the right. counter weighting, while my right thumb is trapped between tank and throttle is not fun. I also have clipons which are more swept back than stock handbars, which complicates matters. Title: Re: Do you think this is doable on a Monster? Post by: corey on March 27, 2012, 05:29:08 AM note the sprocket on the CBR as well...

Post by: jvax on March 28, 2012, 01:41:58 PM The Cop video is MUCH more impressive. To each their own opinion o fcourse, but I think the cop has an easier job because the crash bars (which were scratching on the asphalt pretty much every time he banked) provide him with the lean limit, where as the CBR guy did not even knee drag to control his lean angle. Just saying [beer] Title: Re: Do you think this is doable on a Monster? Post by: wannabfast on March 28, 2012, 01:58:20 PM nor did cbr guy shift his body weight off the seat
Title: Re: Do you think this is doable on a Monster? Post by: jvax on March 28, 2012, 02:05:48 PM nor did cbr guy shift his body weight off the seat Exactly, he was knee gripping the tank the entire course. Not to play down the cop's performance of course, I wouldn't be able to do either. Title: Re: Do you think this is doable on a Monster? Post by: polivo on March 28, 2012, 02:17:27 PM First off.. Both of these riders displayed incredible talent in those manuevers. With that said, I believe that the "cbr guys" level of expertise would be harder to achieve than the harley rider.
The cbr guy executed his manuevers with counter steering, not counter weighting in a confined space. He managed to do this by carrying sufficient speed to keep the bike up, and not tip. This alone, in my humble opinion makes his effort greater (more difficult), etc, etc. Another way to view this in an unbiased manner (if thats possible), is to ask the question. Which RIDER would be able to complete the OTHER riders course using the other rider motorcycle? Im positive the cbr guy would be able to complete the harley guys course. Im almost postive the harley guy could not. Title: Re: Do you think this is doable on a Monster?
