i have what ive been told is a 2001? 916 s4 engine. i want a new side case because i dont trust the crank bearing pocket and there is a bolt broken off in one of the 3 stator bolt holes.
i have a glass sight window for the flywheel, and a single bolt crank position sensor. what cover do i need? will any of these work? looks like the 3rd is answer. though id prefer the 2nd because it has a brand new bearing in it..

thanks for looking
First two are set up for the 2-bolt triggers, so it seems they're out.
A single bolt trigger *may* fit, but I haven't tried it, perhaps someone else has.
water pump impeller diameters changed for the sbk too around this time-ish so that may also be something you need to ask about.
get the part number and check other models, or ask a dealer to find the number and see what else it fits. that's very easy with softway. a dealer should be able to id it from the engine number, or call dna.
take my engine number in and cross reference the side cases? sounds good. the only concern i had was the pick up bolt holes, thanks for the info about the water pump shaft diameter. if a case comes with the pump shaft and impeller installed it wouldnt be issue, until i tried to replace the parts later if they failed. good info.
found out last trip in, the S4 916 requires a 35$ spark plug when the regular 916s use the 6$ one... thats a bummer. any reason to use the thin tip electrode expensive ones over the regular ones?
the stick coils only take that end. there are other plugs that suit. dcr9eix, dpr9evx, dpr9ea-9.
you are a font of information, thank you.
got a 998 engine side case. it is an exact cast match to the 916. also, i think any 3 phase rotor fits as well, i also got that from the same engine i think. using factory bolts to put it all back together is nice, it comes coated with a locking compound. new impeller seal, new shift seal. after i finish strip/paint the new cover i'll be back in business.
