Title: Radiator flush
Post by: George S on March 27, 2012, 11:41:24 AM
My '04 s4r has 17441 miles. I drained and refilled the radiator when I bought the bike with 12k miles. Currently the radiator fluid still has a rusty color. Should I do a proper flush? Any tips or tricks for this? Do I use an automotive radiator flush chemical? And finally do I mix the radiator fluid with tap or distilled water? Seems to be a bit of debate on the last question. Thanks everyone! This forum is great  [thumbsup]

My 996 was a bit rusty when I got it. It's from the fittings, because everything else is aluminum.

I cured it with a water flush (several times) and fresh anti freeze.

Being a track only bike I use a water wetter type product during the riding season, and antifreeze for winter storage.

The problem seems to have disappeared.

If you decide to use a chemical flush make sure it's safe for aluminum.
