So I've searched the forums but I can't find a definitive answer:
If the speedometer on an '03 M800 does its initial swing but then stays at zero, can it be something in the gauges or is it certainly something in the wiring between the wheel and the gauge?
Just to give more detail: Tach works fine, odometer and speedometer are powered (odometer is reads a static number and speedometer does its initial sweep. I have a feeling that something fusebox related is going on (fuse looks fine though) but I just wanted to make sure I can discount the gauge cluster from being the problem
Sounds like an issue with the pickup sensor. Little black plastic piece just below/behind your rear brake caliper. Check the wiring, see if maybe it became unplugged?
Also, just out of curiosity, did you recently switch over to stainless bolts on your rear brake disk?
No changes to the brakes. The rear rotor was hot yesterday after a short ride but I don't have a baseline to see if that's abnormal
If you had been using it, that's to be expected. Chances are if there was an issue with excessive brake drag, it'd probably have locked itself up.
Did you check the sensor? Should be a wire running from it forward along the swingarm, then up under the seat toward the ECU.
