My speedometer is not accurate and I would like to fix that. I'm running a 5-bolt rear wheel on a 6-bolt bike.
Anyone have any first hand experience with these?
I'd love to put one of these on my SuperSport. The SS' speedo is off about 10%, but I don't see where the cable would plug into the unit.
(It's a mechanical speedometer.....get it?......it's a joke....get it? No? Crap.)
Haha. Thanks Scott. Big help.
;)

Because you want a more accurate representation of how far over the limit you are? ???

Sort of. I'm a pretty conservative rider around town. I'd rather not instinctively jam on my brakes when I see an LEO headed the other way or set up at a speed trap.
I'd rather sit up and WAVE REAL BIG like I'm super happy to see him/her. ;D
I also wouldn't mind having an accurate odometer for things like fuel mileage and maintenance intervals.

Thanks, Speeddog. Now that you posted it, I remember seeing that thread, but it didn't have a resolution last time I checked it. I'll go ahead and lock this one and let it fall off the bottom of the forum. [beer]
No need to lock it, would be good to have more FHE for folks to refer to.
I've checked the odometer on my '02 S4 against a GPS and good mapping software, and it seems to be very accurate.
So the digital aspect is good.
My speedo reads ~5mph high at freeway speeds, so it seems the digital-analog conversion isn't quite spot-on.

I've checked my odometer (post wheel-swap) against mile posts and other known distances and it's well off. :P
I'm using 999 wheels (5 bolt) on a Sport 1000 (6 bolt). I always just figured my speedometer was reading about 15% low, but I'm lazy and math is hard, so if I can correct it and not have to think it'll be better for everyone involved.
I'll be picking one up in a week or so and plan on doing a tutorial for those who may want to follow.
They also make a useful gear pos-n indicator and tre for bikes that need it. Got the dual unit on my gixxer, great for track days.
