I am about to buy one and am curious if I should rush out to get it now or wait till Audi buys them?
Or does it not matter?
Thanks!

This I like [clap]
I love Audi's and Ducati's! Just picked up new 2011 Red M796 to park next to my 2010 S4! ;D
If the sale goes though, ducatis will soon come w/ a CEL light on as standard.

Shit!! I paid a ton of money for this feature, and now it will come standard?
I hope audi purchasing Ducati does make a change in the company, not with the bikes but the tanks. I just purchased a RC8R instead of a Ducati just cause of the tank issue.
Hate to break it to you, but you'll experience the same issues with the KTM, as their tanks are also made my Acerbis.

It might. We will see.
the only thing it would affect would be the parts supply chain and the new buying power applied to certain things like electronics componentry and possible cost reductions...it shouldn't affect anything else really...

my Cagiva has an Acerbis dual tank set-up that has not the issues that the newer bikes seem to have...but part of that comes down to the specifications the manufacturers require of the vendor that made the tanks for them...in other words, it isn't exactly Acerbis's problem....they just built exactly what they were contracted to build based on specs they were given....

Fair point. Let me re-address by saying that all the road going KTMs that I've seen (including the RC8) with Acerbis sourced nylon tanks seem to have the same swelling issues. Motohooligan even makes take offset brackets to "allow" for proper fitting as the tanks start to expand.

Really? I had heard of this on some old models(2007) but have not seen this on the new models. Did this happen you're super duke?

Sure did. Tank has swollen to the point where it is almost impossible to re-attach if I remove it all the way. I've got some of Motohooligan's brackets sitting around somewhere, but haven't gotten around to putting them on.

That is just *#%#&...what year is the duke?
Audi ownership isn't going to have any impact on bikes for at least a year or so... maybe longer.

Did you get it replaced? What did KTM tell you?

Reuters is reporting that VW/Audi has purchased Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati for $1.12 billion.
Thus far financial analysts have not taken a shine to the deal, suggesting that this is a just a "trophy" buy for VW to add to its list of brands that it owns.
dammit knew I should have bought that A5 instead of the 328i

That pic is just hilarious!!
All of the companies that VW owns are independently operated. Lamborghini has stayed much the same since they bought that. Don't really think there are going to be any drastic changes..
