Post by: wasabi on April 13, 2012, 06:04:57 AM
Guy was riding with a group and Panther jumped up on guard rail and then pounced on him and his Ducati Superbike.

Crazy,

1st I don't know Ken or ever bumped into him

and

Second that is the hungriest panther in the world to attack someone on a bike going 45 mph.  Gonna have to buy a tranquilizer gun with me on my bike ride since i live a few miles from the everglades.

60% of the time it works every time.

I had a cougar jump on my bike once. She smelled of Camel cigarettes and bourbon.

I was frightened. It caused a brain bleed and a seat wetting.

Clearly he needs a lesson in riding faster, preditors always go after the slowest in the herd.

Hello Progresive.

-I was attacked by a panther.

Ooooo Kay?

Glad he is ok though.

I totally imagine Flo doing claws and growling sounds upon hearing of that story...

We had a dude collide with a deer from the sky few years back. Luckily he only clipped it with a fork leg, clutch cover (which got a dent) and foot. Damn thing jumped off a berm 15' above the road. Scary as hell and nowhere near as epic as a panther jumping on you...

First thing I thought of when I saw the thread title was "Beware of Cougars at the bar"... haha

But that's a crazy story.

My first thought was "Why are hockey players attacking motorcyclists in Florida?"

Of course, this also finally explains to me why they named a hockey team the Florida Panthers.

I'm guessing the guy was just wearing a helmet.
Makes me wonder if he would have turned out in better shape if he was wearing full gear.

BC.

I imagine that would depend entirely upon how motivated the cat was. I can't imagine even the heaviest leather standing up to a whole lot of panther clawing.

Might buy you a tiny bit more time, though. *shrugs*

Panthers are down there all right!  I used to live in Jupiter, FL.  We would drive over to visit family in Tampa and there are a couple spots on the road that have signs that read "warning.. Panther Crossing"

He posts in the comments section that he was wearing full gear.
