Title: Tire pressures Pirelli dialbo rosso corsa
Post by: Eldon on April 19, 2012, 07:32:09 PM
A have a 2007 monster s4r I had Pirelli dialbo rosso corsa mounted at a local shop and the tech said to run 38 rear 36 front. I was thinking it was a little high. What r some other people running for the street not track.
Thanks

32/34 is my preferred combo, or a pound lower on each if it's a cool morning that will be a warm-hot day. 36 38 seems rather high as the max psi is something like 42. I'd think a rear, measured cold at 38 would be hitting 4X on a warm sporting day.

I might try 36 34 see how that does

Thats what I run, but I dont panic if they're a pound or two down from that.

34/36 seems to work well for me.

Thanks C. Site wouldnt open for me.
I'll keep mine around 32/34 on the M900 (shes quite light). Is that the spec for an old 900?
Thats the pressure I let them drop to before getting out the pump.
Some modern tyres have stiffer sidewall construction from racing tech and like a lower pressure than the old 34/36 rule of thumb.

Hmmm... Site works fine on this end. Your M900 is the same as above but Pirelli recommends (and Ducati, BTW) 32.5/36.5 on my 796, so in Pirelli's case, softer doesn't follow.

On the track cold pressure "might" be lower to allow for the PSI increase HOT at track speeds?

The psi for my Pirelli SBK slicks on the gixxer are about 27-28/32-33 hot after about an hour on the warmers.
They wrre cold pressures for the Rossos?

I know what it is, the 900 has an oem 170 rear . I reckon for the 180 most run then 32/36.
I'll try that and 32/34.

Installed on the bike 36-34 good grip. The bike seems to sit higher it had Pirelli diablos on it before the Rosso corsa maybe there a little biger

36/34???????? Try 33/36 then. You have it backwards. With 36/34, the front will have more tendency to push, the worst kind of slide IMO. Your bike is already a little light in the front compared to new Monsters.

Correction.
I am surprised how well they are wearing. Over 2000 kms (1200 miles, oops) and they are better than half good. I thought they would be gone by now.
Excellent grip.
