Title: Panigale premiers?
Post by: Slide Panda on April 24, 2012, 08:45:55 AM
So I'm a bit shocked there's no burbling about this - both Colemans and Ducpond are having events for the 1199 premier. Might even be rides.. maybe

Pics or it's not happening.  There are demos currently in the states, but I'd be surprised they're down there doing that.

DucatiRevsVirginia is/was the name of the event as put together by the reps from DucatiNA with the prez of M.A.D. for to coincide with the trackdates they hosted with Cornerspeed at VIR on Mon/Tues the 23/24th...I wasn't down there, but as a member of MAD, was told about it and was told that there were to be test rides on track on a limited basis and some offsite test rides...

They didn't show. Donnie wanted to bring one but the rep had to provide it (he doesn't have any at the shop or anything). He figured one wouldn't show but was hopeful. No dice. Considering the weather on Monday it's no surprise. He did describe a lot of the capital-H capital-T High Tech stuff in the new motor. While some of stuff is that which the big 3 Japanese constructors have already been doing, ther was also some new craziness, like throttle-body intakes that tilt to help with engine braking in certain situations. It's also got "wet liners" - the liners can be removed from the cylinders (with special tool of course!) should there be some damage and they need to be replaced. I believe he said this could be done with the engine still in the frame. Lots of other craziness I can't remember. He did have a photo of pistons the size of dinner-plates.

Cafe Saint-Ex & Bar Pilar.

Anyone going to hit that up? Hadn't planned on it initially, but now I'm on the fence.

I shan't be going to Duc pond due to a prior commitment I forgot about  :(. If anyone is planning to go to the Pond, let me know as Frank (who some of you've met) is planning on going at my behest before I recalled my conflict.

Any other week, yes, I'd go. But Alison is away on business this week which means I'm on duty.

I'll probably go, good free crap & I don't easily pass on free.  Maybe bring the 1098 for the changing of the guard & all that.

Too bad no Panigales at VIR; lots of people are wondering how the "frame" and all the trickery will take a hit.

Popped the wheel clean off. Ouch.

So - total maybes right now for this evening and Sat. If I go sat it'll be early, staying briefly and coming home again. But weather is looking grim for sat, so that might be the decider.

Though years back during a DucTruck a lot of people didn't show because it was grey out. But fortuned smiled on me n Ducati Culture and we had sun the whole time as the front magically moved around us. The result was lots of test rides as there was little to no wait.

Yep I dropped by on the M750, chatted with Drew for a bit.  No free stuff, went home.  The bike looks really small, like MV small.  I can see why the under 6ft crowd is so excited.

Like is Ducati going to do something every thursday... not freaking' likely.

Now if it's just "us" getting together - that's open for discussion
