Guys, just looking for baseline. Whats an average price to replace to clutch on 2009 ducati monster 1100? Im getting mine done soon, and I just want to have some idea before i go in!  Thank you.

its starting to slip.  Im not handy , so i took it to a ducti shop and they said it should be replaced.  Theyre charging me about 560.00. Is that about average?

Not enough info.  Are they changing all the plates?  Just the friction plates?  Basket?  Who's parts are they using?  Did they explain to yopu why it is slippng?  Also, did they check free play at the lever?

Sorry guys, im  a total noob at this stuff. Thats why i took it to the dealer.  All they said was the "clutch pack" was going to cost 370.. and 2 hours of labor at 80 dollars?  I assume they checked for loose cables and stuff. I dont know.

Nothing to be sorry about.   IMO, 2 hours labor is a bit much for a dry clutch and the price is about right for an OEM clutch pack.  It is an estimate, so maybe they are just leaving a little room.

Dry clutch pack is about $280 retail, at least here in the States.

Shouldn't take more than an hour to swap the pack.

How many miles/kilometres has your M1100 done?  Reason for my interest is that the clutch on my M1100 seems to be on the verge of letting go too.

My 09 M1100 has about 5500 miles on it and the clutch doesn't seem right, like it's slipping and doesn't grab like it used to. I heard some noises from it when leaving a stop light a few weeks ago and stopped riding it. Is this normal mileage for a dry clutch to start to go? What are the symptoms?

That seems really soon for a pack to start going. I take it they were the OEM plates to begin with?

18,000 Kms on my 09 M1100, the clutch isnt yet slipping but it now only bites at the very end of its travel (and I know late engagement is a Ducati dry clutch idiosyncrasy, but this is a recent deterioration and not what I've been used to during the first 17,500 kms).

Original stock clutch pack (aftermarket pressure plate).

Original plates with DP pressure plate and aftermarket springs. I don't remember where I bought the springs, but I think they came from Motowheels.

OEM packs an last from 5,000 miles to over 30,000 miles. just depends on who the user is.

Mine is on average 10,000-15,000 but that is HEAVY city miles and some not so nice clutch work (burn outs, track days, hard take offs) all those things add up to the wear of the clutch pack. IMHO, buy it yourself and swap it yourself its as easy as 3 bolts and some hooks.


if you have a lot of time and miles on it, the basket may need replacement too, if thats the case then you will need additional tools, some of which are not worth buying unless you are going to be using them often enough.

It's $25 shipped. I just used it (literally 20 minutes ago) and it worked great. You can hold both the hub and basket, though you have to remove and reinstall between the hub and basket...it's just 2 bolts though.

I'm at exactly 5000 miles (8000km) on my 1100 and it still pulls like a train!

Have you had the bike from new as this seems to be premature?

My last bike although wet clutch had just over 20,000 km (12,500 miles) and it was close to the end of it's life and quite some bikes ago I had a Honda NSR250sp with a dry clutch and even riding two-up on occasion it lasted just over 15000km (over 9000 miles) and that bike you had to slip the clutch off the line being 2 stroke!

5700 miles, how do they look? Also where does everyone buy their oem clutch packs online? The local dealer doesn't sell ducati anymore and wants 400+ for a new one! And i haven't been reading good reviews on the barnett, so i would like to go back to factory clutch.

I've heard the same less than impressive things about Barnett packs too..... but then I dont yet know what OEM will cost  ;)
