Title: spoked wheels for SSS monster yet?
Post by: ungeheuer on May 03, 2012, 05:20:31 PM
I want.

There was talk, but none have seen the light of day AFAIK.

Obviously it isnt difficult to be wiser than me...   [laugh]

...but specifically on this subject, any news I've missed?

I heard they were at EICMA
Did they have a bird on 'em?  ;D

Yup, our ol' mate geoffduc was kind enough to mail me brochures from there.  But there was still no mention of their spokies for SSS in all that droolsome wheelporn...

Its like Groundhog Day around here  [laugh].

I don't have the mod budget for that sort of thing

You should convert to DSS so you can use their wheels for DSS.  How hard could it be?

Not too hard - a 696 DSS would bolt on.

But I like my SSS and I particulary like the look of a SSS mounted spoked wheel...  8)

...which is almost reason enough to consider it (http://d26ya5yqg8yyvs.cloudfront.net/hmmm.gif)

wanna trade ;)
Nope  8).

But thanks for the offer  [cheeky].

it's horrible that you say that... I was tossing the idea around, since I have an old Al DSS that I never put on my monster...

Kineo is the brand mentioned in the Ducati.ms thread, same as those in the link you have.

From reading the Ducati.ms thread, sounds like JC from JC Pakbikes can order those for you.
Price tag is hefty though.  :o

Ungenheur, your bike is so tastefully modded I would be willing to help you out in getting some nice laced spokies on that ride of yours.

How 'bout we start by each forum member sending you $1.   ;D

Alpina, NO...Kineo, YES...

We have 5 sets on order...made to order...5-6 weeks out in Italy. @ $2300.00 a set...

Here's a quick shot I found in a search...

Is that all?
That's on par with Alpina.

Euro to dollar conversion on that website on 1st page lists for about $3500.
VAT skewing that?

The ones pictured on the stock Hyper were made in just a few limited sets by D.I.D. and never put into production even though that picture was used in the Ducati handouts. Not available from D.I.D. nor Ducati.

The Kineo wheels are right on point with Alpinas...yes, the VAT screws you guys in EU though. I'm told Alpina even makes the spokes for Kineo. Kineo started out with a bad rep due to designing their hubs with a proprietary spacing and bolt pattern that forced you to us ONLY their brake rotors and sprocket carrier...That has since changed to standard Ducati (or Triumph, KTM...etc) spacing/bolt patterns.

Obviously I post some pics when they start rolling in as we have a special project in mind for them thats well under way.

How 'bout a small discount for a purchase of 2 sets?
Hope you don't mind ungeheur.  ;D

The price is steep in that website.
Approx $3500 USD.
You're in Australia, right?
Maybe the exchange rate is better for you, but the price BlackAt posted is much lower.

no worries... We have a "group buy" going already  [laugh]

Price is steep, but for us in USA/AUS we get to deduct the Euro taxes.  Shipping to Oz is a Killer though.... I just feigned ordering a set..... would cost AU$3600 shipped (even without the taxes).  And then I'd get slugged another 10% at this end (unless I can persuade them to ship them as a "gift" or fib about the true value  ;)).

Either way I like BlackKat's pricing better too  ;D

wait a cotton pickin' minute...  €549.42 for shipping.... thats AU$700  :o

they'd need to be hand delivered by naked blonde virgins for that price.

that's why I was confused by raux's post... I had seen that bike in an article, and remembered them saying it was a custom wheel.

I was also not a fan of the hub... thingy... on that one.

We're not a sponsor, but I will tell you if you are down under, you need to convince someone there to get them. It was mentioned before, but freight from the States to OZ is CRAZY! I looked into shipping a set of wheels...boxed individually so as not to get hit with too much tax for my buddy and USPS was almost $500.00 EACH and UPS was pushing $800.00!!!!

I don't have actual numbers, as I've not had my hands on a spoked SSS wheel.
And not had M1100 wheels in my hands either.

But, Sport Classic wheels, 5-Y SBK and Hyper wheels, etc.

I've said it TIME and TIME AGAIN....IF its speed we want...we should maybe look for a different bike...Maybe something with a radiator...The Monster is an amazing machine...but it is what it is! Its relative... Don't get me wrong...Unsprung weight..Big bores..cams.. Light weight titanium and carbon "flux capacitors" are things I worry about too, but spoke wheels are just effin cool! If I had the coin left over after this build, the KINEOs would be in the build list!

BTW-I spent 75 miles on an 848 Streetfighter yesterday.... Not so uncomfortable actually!
