1199 Panigale S Test Ride at EuroCycles of Tampa Bay (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOFQhxs8c6M#)

I have to say I was surprised at the comfort level. That bike was way more comfortable than the torture chamber 848evo. Im guessing this is due to the improved wheelbase and riding geometry. I could ride around all day without a hurt back or wrists. The powerband was violent, lol, wow. It was a tame beast until 7K RPM's, anything after that and you better be focused. I really like the bike and if I could afford one I would have bought it on the spot. My dealer has pre-sold 31 so far.

I currently have the 848evo in my garage while my monster 1100evo gets the fuel line and rear wheel recall. I'm looking foward to when the Panigale is a take home loaner. [beer]

A 848 street fighter demo. It was slow! My 1100evo is a way better bike. I test rode the 848sf as well and was not impressed. I'm glad I didn't wait for it.

1199 SF [evil]

The guy on the 848SF didn't seem like he was trying to keep up. Hard for me to believe it's a slow bike. I'd be more likely to believe the new Panigale is really that fast.

+1. No way the 848SF is "slow".

He rides a 09 1000rr hence his slow comment. I rode the 848sf as well and it was not impressive. I guess my 1100evos 0-100mph has spoiled me.

fireman...I see that you have an 848 as a loaner.  I used to have a 2005 S2r 1000 and a 2007 1098.  I know I will be getting a Ducati early next year; I just am not sure if it will be a Monster 1000 Evo or an 1199 Panigale.  I can't get any motorcycle this year because of my medical condition.  I sold my 2009 BMW K1300s last December because of my health.  My local dealer in here doesn't have an 1199 I can demo.  When I had my 1098, I was looking for a rest after about 100 miles.  Do you think 100 miles will be a problem on the 1199?  Also, can you see anything from the side mirror of the 1199?

You still do the Ducati chicken wing dance to see your mirrors but it's not as bad as the 848evo. I will say that you should be good for long distance compared to the 848evo geometry. I was shocked at how different it was on the 1199. My wrists and back were fine. It's truly a amazing bike all around. It stands up to the hype for sure. If you have the coin I'd go for the 1199s. I might be riding it again tomorrow when I pick I'm my monster :)

Can you do some static videos of the Panigale just like you did on your Monster?

I am not doubting your experience, but on the video evidence it may be a bit early to claim no back or wrist pain. At those speeds and on those roads I don't think your back or wrists have much to do ... your body weight is supported for free by the wind.

Did you do any sustained slow speed riding, down-hill slow cornering? That may be a better indicator to back and wrist comfort.

I don't think you can say the 1199 stands up to the hype after that ride...there weren't any turns! I think I'd get a Diavel if I lived there...a SBK would just be depressing. At least traffic was light though (something you can't say about here)!  [laugh]

I had a hr and a half of footage so I cut out a lot of the riding. I'm going to ride it again next week and will film more.

And i did about 25min of stop and go traffic and between it and the 848evo the 1199 wins hands down. It's just so thin and your not as stretched out. Go demo a 848 and the 1199 on the same day and you'll see what I mean.  [beer]

the 848 streetfighter isnt slow, it only feels slow because the powerband is peaky, you need to rev it up to 9k to get anything significant out of it
