Title: 848 to m696 fork swap axle/rotor spacer source Post by: Utekineir on May 08, 2012, 09:38:03 AM Hi,
Have read the threads on the swap. Is there a vendor out there that has made/will make the spacers for front rotors and axle? Or does anyone have the specs for the rotor spacers? Thanks, Title: Re: 848 to m696 fork swap axle/rotor spacer source Post by: Link on May 08, 2012, 10:48:51 AM Hi, Have read the threads on the swap. Thanks, You can buy 2.5mm brembo spacers from AF1 racing in Texas, you would need 4 of these your looking at 5mm offset for each rotor. Or you can have some made. But instead of spending money on spacers spend about another $300.00 and get some Galfer rotors with the correct 15mm offset and you will loose 2lbs of weight from your front wheel plus you get great looking rotors. Having a bit of trouble finding the gaffers in a set for $300 though looking closer to $250-300 each. http://www.af1racing.com/store/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=2421 (http://www.af1racing.com/store/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=2421) These should be the spacers mentioned. Honestly think i'd rather that route since it would retain easy rotor replacement down the road. Was leaning toward changing the bike till i pulled up the ins premium change from m696 to an 848 or panigale. 1 year worth of the premium increase i could rework the 696 to be perfect for my uses.... 30 with a clean record, 400ish a year to 2400 range progressive was quoting me. F that, killed my sbk itch real quick. Title: Re: 848 to m696 fork swap axle/rotor spacer source Post by: Link on May 08, 2012, 11:53:35 AM Thanks for info. If you wanna save some coin source some 5mm or 4.5mm aluminum stock and make your own, there real simple to do I did 2 and they came out pretty good.. too bad I threw them away or I'd let you have em.......trust me though the wave rotors make a significant change in the bikes steering and it's all good ! I've seen guys spend 1.5K on a carbon wheel for about the same weight savings. Good luck with nyour mod post up results when done. Have a drill press here, i've redrilled auto rotors for a different bolt pattern with good success before. I was worried about having the spacers drilled properly not to be off center weight wise. Figure theres a lot less forgiveness with a motorcycle rotor than an automotive rotor. |
