Title: Bay Area hotel recommendations Post by: Duck-Stew on May 12, 2012, 04:47:21 AM Hey Guys/Gals/Tigre...
Got a friend who will be visiting the Bay Area June 11-13 & wanted a hotel recommendation. He's wanting to do touristy stuffs and will have wheels so staying across the bridge is an option. What neighborhoods/cities are better than others? Any specific hotel recommendations? Cost is a big factor so I'll need to keep it cheap for him... TIA!! For cheap -- there is some reasonable stuff right by me, but it's not all that nice. "Good Hotel" is very popular with German tourists. For nice... well, can you give a price range? Neighborhoods that are nice: Cow Hollow, Russian Hill, Marina (but even those have some seedy motel options), SOMA (not the part by me), fisherman's wharf area might be okay -- there's a marriott up there I stayed at 10 years ago. Pretty close to touristy stuff like alcatraz, etc. Neighborhoods that are not nice: Mission/Soma (by me), Dogpatch. ? hope that helps. There's one around 4th I think that is almost empty on the weekend and you can get deals. Nice little hotels.
