Title: Request: Pic of Stock S2R800 Brake Pads Post by: corey on May 22, 2012, 05:10:52 AM Does anyone have a photo of STOCK, OEM S2R800 brake pads by chance?
I went looking for the wear bar/groove on my pads, and can't seem to find one. They are around 3.5-4mm thick still, so I think they are okay... However after examining the pads, I'm not sure they are stock or OEM. They look/feel like some type of sintered pad, which would explain why I've never understood all the bashing of the stock braking system. I've always been reasonably satisfied with my brakes.... Keep me from locking shit up constantly ;D Anywho, If anyone happens to have a pic laying around, or can take one... I'd be truly grateful. I believe your S2R800 has the same brakes.

It's just that 4-pot goldlines with a bigger master are insanely awesome, both in terms of raw stopping power but mainly in feel. I definitely don't recall a brembo marking on the backside, and I feel like they were much "warmer" in color, not as BLACK.

FF designation should be the friction rating (F<G<H). I tried some Ferodo HH pads and it was a nice little bump, but the change to 4-pad calipers and all the fixings was over-the-top goodness. No shame in running the stock setup - it's quite competent for lots of uses.

I was wrong, my pads WERE stock Brembo FF's. After bedding in the pads, I can feel a pretty damn substantial increase in braking power. I haven't really given the brakes 100% force yet, but i'm definitely getting better stopping power. Feel and ability to modulate might be SLIGHTLY better, but hard to tell as I haven't really tested them in that manner. If your small-piston caliper pads are worn, I would def suggest upgrading pads for your replacement. I also greased my slide pins, and applied a VERY thin film to the surfaces on the caliper that meet the back of the pad to help cut down on some squealing issues i was having. The brakes feel very smooth, and I'm having very little drag even with the new pads. I wonder how some lighter wheels would affect these small brakes? ;D |
