ive been looking for a cam tool for my m796 and ive found some that say its for the 2 valve and 916 4v motors, and it lists the part numbers, but it doesnt match up with what is in the parts catalog, are they all the same? id imagine the 2v sockets are larger than the 4v sockets but i dont have anything to compare it to
did some cross checking, and it probably wont work, the cam tool looks the same as the 1098... might have to find someone to borrow it, as it appears to be $300 for it... OMG

i want to put in some 1100 camshafts, supposedly they are good for a 5hp bump in power, id be installing them since it would probably be coinciding with the 7500 service and i will be tuning it at the same time
i already have a baseline dyno of 75.3hp to the wheel in 4th gear, but now that i have some slip-ons, sprocket, air filter it feels a lot faster now, but with a proper tune and the camshafts im shooting for around 82hp but whatever, i found a kit that covers everything for $50 but ill wait to get that until i finish modding my air box cover

the 796/1100 use a different tool part number 88713.1805 same as the superbike
Hey WannaB what did you find for $50? I am doing my cams right now on my 1100s. I have a cam sprocket tool for a 996 and it is different. You mentioned something for $50?? Let me know the secret!

Man, that looks an aweful lot like the one I have already. But the only thing that did not fit on mine were the pins were to wide or narrow (geez can't remember from just last night!). Any easy way to be sure this one is different from the 996 one? If for sure correct I don't mind buying it and selling to you! Also, I might have a set of cams for you if you dont have some already ;-)
already have the cams... but yea im skeptical about the fit, but they all look the same, the trick is to get the nuts loose without spinning the cam and ruining the valves
but yea, i got a friend that works for the local ducati dealer and he said you can pull it out the belt side, but i dont want to pull it out that way because id have to replace that seal too, and im skeptical if it would come out that way
but that tool has 2 different sockets so im positive at least one of those will fit and im sure if its not the right one you can complain to the guy, although if its not off by that much, you could probably grind it down enough to work, im considering making one once i have a look at the actual one
This ad on his site has me skeptical, as I said before I have the 996 one and the pins dont line up. The center socket part fits no problem. I was getting tired last night and quit when it would not fit so I will go out to the shop this evening and try again...
