Title: I Don't *Feel* Tardy... Post by: desmoquattro on May 25, 2012, 10:39:31 PM Gas...$212.
Driving Time...12 Hours. 1 Night at the Comfort Inn...$99 Crappy meals at Dennys...$25. 2009 KTM 690 SMC...$6800. Knowing that you can jump intersections and ride up staircases...priceless. It was well worth the drive...now I just need to learn how to ride the damn thing [evil] Title: Re: I Don't *Feel* Tardy... Post by: Kaveh on May 26, 2012, 06:58:26 AM Sweet ride, I'll give ya $7,137 for it, what do ya say? ;)
Congrats, I'm totally jealous! [beer] Title: Re: I Don't *Feel* Tardy... Post by: mostrobelle on May 26, 2012, 06:59:00 AM Is this a new addition to the stable?

Title: Re: I Don't *Feel* Tardy... Post by: desmoquattro on May 26, 2012, 12:38:48 PM Ripped this thing around the city today to get used to it...I can see why people love supermotos. A few first impressions:
1. WOW...this thing is light. 2. Suspension needs a bit of work...I'm a bigger guy, so it tends to squat a bit. 3. It's geared a bit high, so the wheelies aren't out of control...yet. And it's actually not bad on the freeway. 4. I *stil* need to learn how to ride this damn thing. Foot out just seems...unnatural. Check the numbers, most of these come stiff from the factory, many riders soften them up, or maybe your not use to the amount or travel. But if the pre owner was a smaller guy and had the thing worked over, then yeah. i Had superplush in SF do my forks, feels great. they softened up the front end a little. 3. stock gears? At least get a 15 front. 4. I only do the leg out thing on slower or tighter turns, all else ride as normal. But i do tend to "push" the bike under me instead of hanging off to the inside. Definitely not stock...this guy was smaller, and very meticulous in his setup.3. stock gears? At least get a 15 front. No, I have the stock sprockets but this thing is up a tooth in front and down a couple teeth in back.Title: Re: I Don't *Feel* Tardy... Post by: Drunken Monkey on May 27, 2012, 12:09:41 AM Congrats!
Once you go 'tard you never go back. Title: Re: I Don't *Feel* Tardy... Post by: desmoquattro on May 27, 2012, 07:15:41 AM Congrats! Once you go 'tard you never go back. Thanks! Was thinking about you and your Duke as I went through the purchase. At some point we'll have to compare KTM notes :) Title: Re: I Don't *Feel* Tardy... I like to jump off high curbs. I think there is still a nice high one on Park Presidio & Fulton unless they lowered the sidewalk. Now you can ride up on the sidewalk pretty easy too, with just a slight blip of the throttle you just loft the front wheel over the curb 3 or 4 inches and ride down some pedestrian paths. [evil] If I'm going to start jumping things on an orange bike, I think I need a horn that plays Dixie and a big 01 on the side: The Dukes Of Hazzard All About Jumps (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4W7E5BlLGM#) Hmm...now I'm starting to get ideas: (http://static.blogo.it/twowheelsblog/ktm-640-sm-general-lee-dukes-of-hazzard-bike/KTM_640_SM_General_Lee_01.jpg) Title: Re: I Don't *Feel* Tardy... Post by: MendoDave on May 29, 2012, 08:18:56 PM The slick setup would be to get another set of wheels with knobbies on them. Then go find yourself a gravel pit and start making tracks and jumps. After a few weeks of that, you can put the street setup back on and just tear up the town.
Or maybe you should get a CRF and start racing at Dixon and Marysville/Yuba city on the weekends. Then put your dirt skills to use on the street. This should point you in the right direction. http://www.cmcmotocross.com/category/race-series/ (http://www.cmcmotocross.com/category/race-series/) Title: Re: I Don't *Feel* Tardy... Isn't that mostly because getting the lobotomy reversed isn't too easy? ;-) big (Looking forward to having a ride on that in August Joe! And thanks for the booze…) Title: Re: I Don't *Feel* Tardy...
