Title: Throttle linkage cracks?
Post by: dark_duc on May 30, 2012, 05:41:23 PM
Has anyone seen cracks like this on their throttle linkage?  I asked my local dealer and we compared to an S2R that only had 3K miles on it (mine has 22K) and it had a couple as well.  The dealer was thinking it happened during manufacture but he didn't exactly leave me with a warm and IZ_ feeling.  The one at 12 o'clock worries me the most as it extends up and over the edge.  I can't really tell if this is a rubberized cover only or if it's one piece.  Anyone seen this before?

Got it.  Sorry, w/o the pic I thought you were talking about the throttle housing at the handlebar.  I have some cracks there from overtightening the screws, I think.  I see what you are saying.  My M800 throttle cam is all metal.  It seems you can use some good epoxy to keep it together or get a replacement cam from electaeon.  I'm using the electraeon fast cam and I'm very happy with it.  It is made of metal.

Do you happen to have a link?  I am not having much luck finding an OEM replacement yet.

You can strip the anodizing easily enough for an aluminum finish.  Boil it in a TSP solution or dip it in a lye solution.  Look up all the cautions.
