Title: Replacing Side Stand Plate S2R
Post by: xsephirot on June 02, 2012, 04:21:21 PM
Hey guys,

So I thought my bike sat a little way to over and had the dealer check it out. Turns out that my side stand plate is bent and my side stand may also be bent as it was carrying extra weight. They want 363 bucks just in parts to replace it. I'm scouring fleabay now for parts. My question is how do you tell if a side stand is in spec? And not bent?

For example this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2000-Ducati-Monster-750-M750-Kick (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2000-Ducati-Monster-750-M750-Kick)

First I'm assuming that a 750 monster's side stand will fit on my s2r. And then my second question is does it look to be in working order. It's hard to compare to the one currently on my bike. I'm thinking if I can get this side plate for a hell of a lot cheaper then I can just buy a cyclecat kickstand.

It may fit (or not), but your SR uses a different side stand and plate.  Before buying anything first make sure the bolts are tight and compare your sidestand with another SR.  They are not easy to bend.

I see. I just checked the stand and none of the bolts are loose. I can't tell if the plate is bent or not. However on the stand I can shake it slightly backwards and forward (in the direction a stand shouldn't usually go in). Any telltale signs?
