Hmmmmm.

Now, I ride to work every morning, sometimes I have a company vehicle, but rain, sun, hail, wind, cold don't bother me none. The last week has been hell. My fingers are absolutely aching by the time I get to work and the nose is running and the eyes are watering. I was actually riding with my left hand down by the motor on Tuesday morning to warm it up.

I do wanna come down to Bar Italia and catch up with you blokes and I'm going to try and make it one of these nights. My lovely woman was home earlier than I expected last night so I had to entertain her. ;D Plus I have really early starts at work lately and working 7 days a week is hurting my social riding life. But, I need the money. [roll]

Hey huge congrats from little Big T to Big Big Ian........ A bloody amasing effort... Is the most km on a bike I have ever heard of....

Would be really interesting to know:

How many front tires used?
How many rear tires used?
How many chains used?
How many front & rear sporckets used?
How many brake pads front and rear used?
How many oil changes?
How many engine rebuilds?

Of course estimates will work.....

Yeeaaaa I know I'm a numbers geek.............

I pretty much always get ~20,000km out of a front, so ~10 of them.
I used to use MEZ3's and only get ~7000 out of a rear, I switched to harder Bridgestones a few years back and now get ~20,000km out of a BT020, so maybe 12 or 14 rears.
I get ~40,000km from a chain on new sprockets and ~30,000 on old sprockets, so say 6 chains and 4 sprocket changes.
Rear brakes last me forever (I put my second replacement set in a few weeks back, ~100,000km per set). Fronts last ~40,000, so 5 sets there.
Oil every 5,000km, so 40 oil changes (mostly but not always including filters, only once have I ever changed crush washers).
It's never had a "rebuild" as such, it came apart at ~75000 km for a failing crank main bearing, and got put back together with new crank bearings and piston rings, and a few new seals and orings, but the big ends, little ends, and cylinder heads have never been apart, and the gearbox is running the original bearings.

Other replacement things, it's on it's 3rd main relay, 2nd starter relay, 3rd set of wheel bearings, the rear brake master has been replaced, the clutch master has had a seal kit put in, the clutch slave had 2 new OEM seals then a Yoyodyne replacement piston with orings, the crankcase breather has been replaced when it started leaking, a chain adjuster bolt got replaced when it came loose and damaged itself against the sprocket, the shock got rebuilt at ~160,000km when it dumped all its oil over the rear tire, the forks have had new oil 3 or 4 times but no new seals or slider bushes.

Too many bikes are "garage queens" cos their owners are more into the poseur thing (cafe bandits ;)) and do 99% of their riding to and from the condo to the cafe and back, and ONLY when there aint a cloud in the sky. I was one who used to snigger at the pristine Ducatis at the Island on the GP and Supers weekends, particularly when I saw them trailered to the Island and then ridden around and the trailered again for the trip home!! Gimme a break!! [roll]
And of course the fabled unreliability of the Ducati. Some justifiable, some not. ???
But after having 2 Monsters in the garage, 1 old tech and 1 newer tech, I have found that the more you use them, generally the better they work!! Less corrosion on terminals (A major cause of electric malfunctions) sweeter running engines with generally less deterioration.  ;D
One of my questions when I joined the DML (R.I.P. [roll]) was about the percieved unreliabilty of the breed and bigiain responded with his opinion and the K's he had reliably racked up!! So I bought the DS and have had a ball since. [thumbsup]

I remember reading about the history of the DML and the Daffelike status that serial posters achieved. Perhaps you guys could do a similar thing relating to Monster k's. So if someone gets 2000 odd posts they would go from Hero to Big-like status .... is this placing you on a pedestal or cheapening your achievement?

my personal count is 55,000kms across 3 monsters between Oz and Italy since 2004 and including 1 yr without one. i'd like to think i could crack the 100,000kms on 2 monters on two contintents....that would be sweet.
