Title: Dianese glove recommendations?
Post by: ab on June 18, 2012, 02:27:18 PM
My current full dianese glove (not sure type it says dianese s.p.a), the pinky leather has tore down (just wear and tear and not from accident).  This particular gloves doesn't have extra padding or gel etc.  just a simple full glove.

I want to replace with a decent full gloves.  Any recommendations?  Looking for good protection for everyday use and/or track or spirited twisty rides.

Thx

Helimot  [thumbsup]

I have the Sport-Race gloves. They're fantastic, but do take some time to break in.

I think OP is asking for Dainese recommendations.  I too am looking to replace my current gloves, Alpinestars GP Tech, with a pair of Dainese gloves.  I don't have any FHE but I'm leaning towards the Steel Core.  As I'm sure you are already aware Revzilla.com has excellent video reviews to watch, decide, then ride :)

Ya, I wasn't sure.

Not sure why someone would rule out other brands though. It's not like Dainese gloves come with magic fairy dust that makes you faster and better looking. There are other gloves out there that are just as good (and some may say better).  [thumbsup] If I didn't wear Helimot gloves then I would have a pair of Held.

Prefer dianese coz it looks "fast" and of course the "magic fairy dust" is really what i am after.  Lol

Any feedback is appreciated but dianese is preferred for some reason.  Maybe coz I have a jkt from them and gloves :-)

The revzilla videos are great.  I wanted more feedback from fellow riders.  The VR6 looks good but man I would look like a douche fanboy.

If it's any help, as WINTER glove, I have been wearing these for nearly four years - thankfully never tested out the "protection" factor - but they seem to have hard stuff in most of the right places - and they are a. warm-as b. dry-as (Gortex is the duck's guts) c. durable-as. Can highly recommend them - even bought a pair for the better half for xmas....

..and...if we had actually HAD a summer this year, I was going to invest in a pair of these:

but found myself wearing the Jerico all 'summer'  [thumbsdown] - I'd appreciate any opinions on the Pro-carbon gloves if anyone has given them a spin...?

Defo go the Jerico Gortex for winter though - especially if you ride in the rain and sleet, as I do!  [thumbsup]

I haven't tried the Jerico gloves as mentioned above, but I did wear the Scout Goretex all last winter.  I would ride home from work at 2 am in 35-40 Degree weather and my hands were still comfortable.

All of my gear is Dainese except my gloves, which I wear size 3xl, Dainese goes to size 2xl  :(

So I chose Spidi gloves because like Dainese, Spidi gloves are beautifully crafted in a similar  Italian quality and design. Leather is butter soft and full of safety features!

I have these for everyday, around town stuff

And these, for twisties

http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/spidi-race-vent-gloves (http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/spidi-race-vent-gloves)

My current gloves are a everyday/ weekend fun level. but would buy these next, which are a bit beefier for track days.

My gloves are old but are still in excellent condition because of the build quality , if I rode the track, I would definitely be sporting these,

Very bad ass.

I'm with TripleJ.

I got Dainese jackets but I wear Helimot gloves.  I have the F108 and the H20.  They are made in Santa Clara USA and can be repaired by the folks at Helimot.  I also have a pair of Dainese gloves and used to wear Held, but I don't wear them since I got the Helimots.

You may want to give them a try and see if they fit your hands.

Not sure I can find my correct size for the helimot.  Reviews look good but my local store "iron pony" doesn't carry it.  My current dianese is size L.

As far as I know no one carries Helimot except them. I ordered mine on-line from them. The fingers do tend to be slightly narrow, so if you have sausage fingers they may not work.

Full Metal Pros. I have 2 pairs, crashed in 1 pair a few times and they are doing just fine. All the protection and sliders do as they are designed. I love these gloves because I find most other "race gloves" super bulky and strange feeling. (I hate having my knuckles anywhere near my brake lever for instance...)

Anyways, that's my suggestion. When deciding whether I wanted another pair of FMPs or something more "street-oriented" like the 4-Stroke I finally decided that I'd like an equal amount of protection on the street considering all the jackasses in cages that almost murder you with 4,000 lbs projectiles every time you ride.

I also have a pair of full metal pros I picked up for $110.  Great pair of gloves, palm feels nice and thin.

For an everyday riding glove in normal conditions I'd go with the Buffalo Pro. It seems like the H20 (what I have) with a couple features useful for street riding (like the visor wiper). If you never ride in the rain though, and do track days, the H20 would also be good, and the Summer glove looks nice if it's really hot where you live.

Helimot gloves have somewhat narow fingers. Not too narrow, but if you have sausage fingers they might not be for you. If your fingers are normal though you should be fine. That said, they'll be tight at first, but will eventually break in. I rubbed mine down with leather conditioner (like you would a new baseball mitt) when I first got them and it helped a lot. They're great gloves after they're broken in.  [thumbsup]

Thx Triple J.  What do you think of the the B-11? The description seems like it is h20 but better?
Its interesting their website contact link has an old number but atleast if you call it, you get the new changed number.

The B-11 looks fantastic. It'll be my next race glove. Not sure when I'll need it though...I'm finishing up my 2nd race season with my H2Os and they still look almost new...despite a lowside at about 80mph where my left hand slid on the ground, yet the glove is hardly damaged at all.  [thumbsup] Quality!

That's weird on their phone #, but you've got to cut them some slack. They're truly a mom and pop shop, and they're in the process of switching locations. My guess is website design isn't their forte!  [laugh]

I just talked to the owner and had my questions answered and had a really great short conversation.  I already like him and seems like a nice gentleman.  :-)  I am about to send my glove tracing and hopefully order the B-11 to use for track one day soon and for my twisty rides.  Hopefully I can even use it for daily if it not a hassle even though it is probably over-kill as explained to me.

okay I think I might just be the first one to actually answer the question on this thread...

Dainese 4-Stroke is what I recommend.

http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dainese-4-stroke-gloves (http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dainese-4-stroke-gloves)

Why? superior protection to some of the other Dainese gloves and they look bad-ass.

There ya go.

Ordered helimot - b-11 black & neon.

Selling point for my decision was the fact that it's made in US and I rather support local made and reading all reviews a good product.  I sent tracing pix - it can't get any more custom than that :-)

support local on gloves??  ???

If thats a real concern shouldnt you be riding a Harley, Indian or Victory or maybe even one of those budget cafe racers from ClevelandCycleWorks? Dont get me wrong I'd take both your bikes over any of those. I'm just sayin...

Well, local business has to make a product you want first.

Well I support local as in the States or made by a racer turned enterpriser but not blindly :-). As TripleJ stated local doesn't make the type of bike I want.  Harley and the others you mentioned doesn't appeal to me.

Hope that makes sense.  There is no hard rule.  We all make our choices based on our values as much as possible.

I will report back on the gloves when I receive it.

On a different topic , I also boycott Walmart. :)

Helimot gloves arrived. Breaking it in now.  So far so good.  Will report back end of season if anyone cares.

Only complaint , I ordered black and neon but I got black and orange.  Darn - I can live with it I guess, I didn't bother trying to change it.

Be patient...they take a while to beak in.  :) Sucks on the color.

That sucks. Not to be a dick but I think it sucks to wait for a long time, get the wrong colors, and then have a long break-in period once I want to start using them.

Do not want.

The color thing definitely sucks. The wait is because it sounds like they were custom though...and the break-in period is worth it. My Held gloves feel flimsy in comparison to my Helimots.
