Was interested to try the 14T front sprocket change on my 2007 S4RS so ordered one up.
Looking at the fitment procedure it all seems easy enough - except for one thing..........
How the hell do you get the original fitment sprocket nut off? I have all the right tools, a big socket, extension bars etc. but I can't shift it.
Problem is locking the sprocket so it doesn't turn. Is there some safe/accepted trick to doing this? I tried putting the engine in gear (6th) and stamping on the back brake but it still turns.
Seems like the only way could be to wedge a bar between the swinging arm and the spokes to lock the rear wheel from turning but I'm worried about damaging something by doing this.
It's going to take some serious pressure to loosen the fella.... :o
Race mechanics use a bar between the chain and rear sprocket to tighten the wheel...they also change chains every race.
Impact wrench?
Run the front end into a wall and get a helper to steady the bike.
i use a wood block between the frt spocket and case with it out of gear .
Why 14T an S4RS to begin with?
I was thinking about 17T mine so I don't have to shift at all when running in and around towns.

Agreed on the 14T, not sure about the 17. Fix the lean fuel first and maybe install a G2 throttle tube. For totally urban applications the 14T is okay though.
