i purchased a set of used Showa non-adjustable forks to replace the
terrible Marzocchi non-adjustables without checking to see if the caliper
spacing matched........and of course since i didn't check, they do NOT match.
The spacing on the forks: 65mm
The spacing on the caliper: 40mm
do i have any reasonable options besides buying a new caliper with 65mm
spacing?
i guess i could put new seals and oil in my old crappy Marzocchi's but that sucks
and i already bought the Showas.

Fixed. When Ducati went to 65mm, they also went to the plastic band that attached the fender to the fork. There are black and white plastic bands. White positions the bolt in-line w/the groove the band goes into, the black does a slight (5mm) offset. I think you'll need the black ones (IIRC).
might be crazy talk, but maybe just sell the forks and make your money back, and find a proper set?

Not crazy, but they stopped using the 40 mm mount in '99 IIRC.
I doubt a set of adjustables would be an easy find.

at this point i am trying to find the quickest, easiest solution (without having to
rob a bank) because i need to get on with it......my Marzocchis lost their oil a LOOOONG time ago :(
The Power of the DMF compells me. I have s set of non-adjustable S2R forks sitting around. If you cover shipping from DC, I'll happily drop them in the mail.
I also have a pair of goldline brembo 2-pad calipers that will bolt right up to the fork. They are 65mm. $200 bucks and they are yours.
Go figure you could have forks and 65mm calipers by the middle of next week if you want. Just PM if interested.

actually there's usually a few sets on Ebay. you're after 900 fors i'd say, theyre the adjustable ones i think. i was lucky, got me a brand new set with 40mm mounts from the Netherlands for $600. you can often find a few pair of 2nd hand on ebay for around $400. they're a fair side better than the non-adjustable crud ;D how much did you pay for your non-adjustables?
