Seems my tail light has been blinking on and off. Not in the way it is supposed to be either.
I suck at anything electronic so I'm not even going to try to explain what I found. Let's just say that the light came on when I would place the two halves together.
The point of this post is to learn why this is happening. I just kind of want to learn something. What am I looking at and why does the light turn off when one half is pulled away from the other?
I suppose it is time to look for a new one.

sounds like a loose connection between the wiring and the board......but it could be something else entirely. i went through two of those (LED) tail lights before i went back to stock.
at least with stock,...the problem was just a bulb replacement.
good luck!
I've spent some time looking around and it seems there are very limited options out there.
I don't necessarily want to go with the same thing and have the same problem another year down the road.
Motodynamics' site says they're outta stock >:(
Vizi tec cost 300 bones and there are only a few left >:(
Only things on fleabay are crap >:(
It's like. Where the shit are all the tail lights?
I got mine from motodynamics.
After a perfect first week, I saw the right side license plate lights flickr and go out.
After a year left side went out too.
No license plate LEDs work now.
This is kinda a shot in the dark without seeing what's going on first hand, and just going by the pics....
Maybe the peaks of the solder on the board is piercing the insulation on the wires causing it to short circuit.
Try placing something between the solder and the wires.
If I were to guess, just by looking at the pics, I'd say look at the wires near the 3 black doo-hickies near the blue doo-hickey. That area could be a pinch point.
I took it to work and let the guys in "e-world" have at it. They found a few wires loose and soldered everything back together.
I took it home, hooked it up and it works fine.
Still, after having seen its construction and how flimsy everything looks, I would like to invest in a better light.

That sucks. No warranty? I liked their light because of the integrated license plate LEDs.
